When it comes to DPS, you have an advantage over healers/tanks because you can practice rotation mechanics on dummies. Sure, in theory healer/tank could in a sense but the fact of the matter is using a parser can help you make a rotation that is easy/manageable for YOU. At the same time it allows you to optimize your damage.

Like Alkimi said above healers/tanks get called bad all the time, but call a DPS real bad and suddenly the world is ending. If we can't hold DPS to the good/bad standards we place on healers/tanks then no one holds the right to complain about bad healers and tanks.

P.S. It doesn't take an elitist douche to use a parser. A parser is there for self/group improvement; the better you and your team are the more likely you can carry friends who aren't as good at the game. Simple as that.

Some people just don't get that there are players out there who have no interest whatsoever in maximizing their dps or playing their class to their maximum potential. Even if you implement a parser in game, they are not going to stand for hours in scorpion crossing to optimize their dps and there is no obligation for them to do so.

There is also nothing in the terms and conditions of the game that forces players to play the class to the best of their abilities. By playing in an mmo and putting yourself out there you are implicitly agreeing to take the good with the bad, you are going to meet good and bad players, just like in the real world. If you take on a new job and find your colleagues irritating, do you enforce a rule for them to change their behavior and insist they cater to your every whim and fancy? No, you either find a middle ground and consensus or leave the job and look for one that suits your character.

Same in ffxiv. If you are unhappy with df or pf, go join or do with an fc or static. Most competent fc grps already have parsers running in the background constructively. Parsers if introduced as a core feature of the game will make the community more toxic and vitrolic than it already is currently, especially with the anonymity of df and to a lesser extent pf. Simple as that.
