The motive is obvious. Optimize solo gameplay. Yoshida said they'll be doing something for he enjoyment of all play styles. There's also a rough list of party/group activities that are in the works. Not sure where you're going with this?

How is it optimizing solo play if its forcing you to find more people to link to get the same SP you have now?
Do people not read that several factors of leves are getting Reduced? Bonus, SP from mobs, Link Bonus, maybe even bonus from Favor.
Did you not read the part where they'll be adding more group content?
This game is in alpha stage. It's very far from being ready to play. They can't add everything at once. Get over yourselves.
They've added 2 dungeons, WOW totally replaces the leve system.... Not, also we dont know how much SP we will get from dungeons, and now leves being nerfed, how we going to rank up? We cant until they fix the game in the next patch. Nice way to push your audience away.
I would have to agree, the game is still in it's "testing" stages, when the game is playable and they start charging us, the only difference is that we get to keep our characters and the progress...lol
Did YOU not read that you will get BONUS SP for COMPLETING a Leve now? This could very well make up for reduced link and mob SP in general. Not to mention they said we will be able to link more leves now, so we could basically get the same SP as before with just 1-2 more links on one leve.

We will get extra SP for finishing a leve so this is a GOOD thing! With finishing the leve we might end up at the same SP per Leve as we did before PLUS getting the rewards/credits for it, which is by FAR better than failing them over and over.
And another thing...even if it's gonna be less SP overall than before...who *** cares? Grinding is WAY too fast atm...I can take a class from 1 to 50 in 5 weeks, considering I've got a 4man static for leves...

focus on complaining about stuff that actually needs to be adressed NOW...and grinding FASTER to 50 is not even in the Top 1000....

That's a fair point, Tirion. (And hiDid YOU not read that you will get BONUS SP for COMPLETING a Leve now? This could very well make up for reduced link and mob SP in general. I'm assuming that the SP bonus and increased number of leve links will not be as much SP as you currently get. This is based on the fact that Yoshi-P said that leves will be primarily solo content. If you just had to get more people in your party, and then everything would be the same, they would not be solo content. They'd be large party content. Yoshi-P said they're not going to be party content at all.
So based on what's been said, I don't think we'll be getting the same SP as before with just 1-2 more links. Based on what Yoshi-P said, the benefits of leve linking will be small enough that it won't be worth doing leves in parties.
Not to mention that people of different classes probably won't want to do the same leves anyway. Marauders will want to run leves in LL; Conj/Pug/Glad will want to run leves in Uldah; Thm/Arc/Lnc will want to run leves in Gridania. So it will be tougher to get parties -- especially diverse parties with people playing their intended roles -- anyway.
Again, that's a fair point. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to slow down leveling speed. And another thing...even if it's gonna be less SP overall than before...who *** cares? But I think the main problem with the game is lack of content. Yoshi-P admitted that turning leves into solo content will create a lack of party-based content, until they implement more stuff to fill that hole. He asked us to be patient until they fill those holes.
My concern is that they're taking stuff away before they implement other stuff to replace it. If the problem is lack of content, taking content away is going to make the game less enjoyable for the people who've stuck around.
I know we have to look long term. But in the short term, I'd prefer that they try to keep the current player base happy and interested and playing the game.
Like you said, we don't actually know what the changes are going to be. So this could be a tempest in a teapot. But based on what's been said, I think it's fair to voice concerns about them reducing the amount of content, rather than increasing it.

ok please explain with your understanding how 6 people linking for the same sp as 4 people now will not be reduced. you attacked a point and fail at trying to promote your point because it is fundamentally flawed.Did YOU not read that you will get BONUS SP for COMPLETING a Leve now? the point you attacked was simple. if it takes more after then it did before it is a reduction and it is completely correct.

So basically, they want me to quit until the party content is out? I'm fine partying with leves right now. I like running 8 person leve parties. I like how it works now, and they're changing it in a way that's negative for me.
In my opinion, they shouldn't have changed leves until the party content was ready. This is a bad move that actually makes the game have even less content. It's pretty easy to walk away from XIV right now, and this just makes it easier.![]()
I won't say there's no validity to this arguement, because there is. But when you look at the bigger picture you see that changes of this magnitude take time. Sure, it would be nice to optimize both party and solo play together, but when you sit on content, players complain nothing is being done. It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation for Yoshida. So basically, they want me to quit until the party content is out? I'm fine partying with leves right now. As he said, if they try to do everything at once, nothing will get done at all. I have not given up on the game, but to make the wait easier I have started playing Rift. It's not Final Fantasy, and it's blatantly unoriginal, but it's a fun pass-tme.
