[..]you can copy the appearance of any gear equippable by your current class or job.
Assumption here is that means that a DoM can't wear DoW-only gear, and that PLD can't wear MNK-only gear. Same goes on for BSM not able to wear GSM gear.

:/ Sad to hear that. First thing I thought when I heard about Vanity is the Odin set. What with is being hard to get and not that worth it stat wise I knew mass amounts of people would want if for Glamour.
On a different note entirely; I'm hoping for a way to make shields invisible. I hate 'em! Vanity will be a buckler for sure as of now lol

Gear set limitations are easily seen. The gear follows a 1 to 1 ratio at the current moment. Current Glamour can only match the ratio. Given time, I'm sure they will override this issue. Right now the Glamour Prisms or what ever item we're supposed to be using is as I said, 1 to 1. So for 1 piece of gear, you can mimic the image of 1 other piece of gear using 1 Prism. In the future, we may have special prisms that can take up 4 slots made specifically for items like Odin, the Darksteel armor and Cowls.
Its going to have to start off weak and build up to get the most out of it with less stress. I mean look at the complaints about ear placement and tail cropping then apply this to multiple layers of images appearing at once. Not a great disappointment, just something they need time to improve upon.
The solution around this is pretty simple and obvious, IMO.
Taking Odin gear for example, its equipped on the body slot but takes up the hands, feet, and leg slots. Make it so that if you mirror the Odin armor on a body piece, that it "turns off" / takes priority over the appearance of the slots it usually covers even though you have things equipped in those slots.
This would also allow things like darklight robe and darklight tank pants to be compatible with the vanity system.
This is what I was thinking... and what should happen at the very least but due to the distinct guidelines I don't foresee this happening. The solution around this is pretty simple and obvious, IMO.

From what I've read, you can glamour items as long as they take the same number of gear slots. So, you can glamour Odin's helmet, but not the chestpiece? What's the point of implementing the chestpiece in the first place if it's not gonna be used as a set. It'd look pretty ridiculous flaunting Odin's helmet while wearing a coliseum galerus for example. D:
I'd be okay with it if the time spent to acquire Odin's full armor/weapon set was proportional to its use(meaning we can actually use it actively after getting it), but it's not. It was clearly designed for glamour and for it to be outdated easily, combat wise, yet it'll just sit there in everyone's armory chest. As it stands, the chestpiece serves little to no purpose in combat or glamour. It's only use I can think of is pretty much posing in front of the market bell while I sell stuff.
I hate the multi-slot gear pieces. SE should have just made pieces that cover other slots just hide the piece of gear instead of dissallowing it to be equipped.

Im really disappointed honestly. my whole reason in getting that gear was for vanity b/c it looks soooo badass. But at least I'll be able to use that sword! Man that sword....sexy.
I bet almost everyone is going to be running around in bikinis. Sucks for the tanks and healers that can't mirage prism their way out of the tin can.
