What I wouldn't mind them doing, and I'm not sure if they wanna go this route because of previous use, is the idea behind splitting your weapon in two or four directions:

This is actually a really interesting point because someone on Reddit pointed out that in the original it says "「ゾディアックウェポン」という概念もパッチ2.2からスタートするのですが、こちらはまた追々……。" which translates toooooo "2.2 will be the beginning of the Zodiak weapon system, more will be revealed...". Obviously "Zenith" isn't related to the Zodiak, but it could totally start that with the next upgrade.
