    Pop Set Notorious Monsters

    How much of a stretch is it to believe that SE could implement this into the World, seamlessly.

    Kind of how Chimera stands waiting for those with the Quest active, but does not appear if you do not.

    The person who has the Set of Rare/Unique Items in Inventory, or Traded into a NPC would be able to initiate the fight(most likely instanced).

    Items could be obtained Via FATEs, Dungeons, Trials or DoL.

    Would be pretty cool I think!

    I'm a proponent of tiered pop set "NM" content.

    Initial items from FATE/Dungeon/Trial/DoL/other...
    Use that to pop certain mobs leve-style... receive item...

    Require X different items from first stage in order to pop one "NM" from second stage...

    etc.

    Base item obtainable solo... First stage completable in Light Party... Second stage completable in Full Party...
    Final stage requiring 24 member alliance...

    The early stages could be done levestyle with final stage being instanced...

    Not any more - the relic quest Chimera is now on the Duty Finder and no longer appears physically in the Weeping Saint (it's now an instanced battlefield that even has the same entrance like a dungeon). And before you pass judgement players actually wanted it like this. Just like instanced dungeons.

    It all comes back to accessibility - SE wants content to be easily accessible by everyone, and not just an 'elite', hence open NMs are on FATEs which cannot be claimed by only one person. Not to mention using pop items inevitably leads to camping of whatever drops that item in the first place, it merely passes on the temptation to be claimed by botters and RMT to something else.

    I imagine the fact that they "don't drop anything" could have something to do with it.

    Would you run a dungeon more than once if it granted you no Reward the first time you ran it?

    It seems every time an idea is brought up, some one comes in with, "RMT blah blah, Won't Work". It is highly doubtful RMT will want any part of this, as it will require skill and coordination to complete and the major rewards would come from completing a tiered pop set.


    I like to drink red wine. This girl asked me once if red wine gave me a headache. I said, 'Sure, eventually, but the first and middle parts are amazing!' I'm not going to give up on something because of what it does eventually. It's like getting an apple and going 'Whoa, stop! That's going to be a core eventually!'

    But I do agree with your argument, we can't stop good ideas because someone will do them too much to gain from it.

    Indeed, those demanding this type of content implicitly assume HNMs will drop phat lewt, and THAT's what these people are interested in, not killing HNMs per se.

    It would not have to be that way...

    Pop items could as well be a somewhat rare drop from treasure hunts, levequest coffers, or even a rare coffer at the end of a dungeon (like the housing item that drops in CT).

    That would not provoke "claim wars", make maps more valuable, and maybe get people to run dungeons even after they caped tomes...
