Typing and communicating with PS4?

I'm getting a PS4 for FFXIV and was wondering what people have planned for communications.

I'm thinking wireless keyboard but they are not always great at range. What is your plan to type nice things to nice people from your nice couch?

Also, thoughts on handling chats? Are you gonna headset to your laptop on TS? Thoughts on push-to-talk solution?

This question actually has me at a dilemma. I type to my FC all the time, so Keyboard: Check. I talk to my FC during raids and just to BS (most of which are switching to ps4 also) and PS4 has a pretty good party chat system, so Headset: Check. The infuriating light that emits from the front of the controller drains the ever-living sh*t out of the controller battery life. PS4 only has 2 USB ports.

I have been playing a PS4 game called Warframe while I'm waiting for 2.2 to drop, and I literally have to charge my controller almost every day. And I don't play as much Warframe as I do FFXIV....

Wife got me a Bluetooth HP keyboard and mouse for my ps4, they both worked great on the ps4 while playing phase one beta. It felt very nice have controller, k/m felt a lot better than playing on my laptop.

I used a simple Wii wireless kb and logitech wireless mouse. I strongly suggest a self powered USB hub if you want more USB ports and has more available power for multiple devices.

As far as PTT for TS3/Vent/Mumble I have seen ppl use in other console games a PTT USB foot switch /w a laptop.

If you don't want to hook up a keyboard in your living room you can use your smart phone/tablet to enter text in the game. It's much faster than selecting letters with the D-Pad but a real keyboard is still the most efficient way to communicate.

I already have a Logitech Bluetooth wireless keyboard and it works great. I've never had any problems with it at all and it's super easy to connect once you pair it with the ps4.

My roommate plays on the PS3 and has a basic $10 Microsoft keyboard with a USB extension cord. Works perfectly fine for him when he wants to talk to people.

1 usb slot for keyboard other for pulse elite mic and i have a charger for ps4 controller that holds 2 at a time and since i have 2 controllers i just swap them out

I just wish the PS4 would support a Vent/TS app. While I can happily type on my wireless keyboard I need to fire up my laptop to run Vent to chat to my LS which necessitates the use of two keyboards (the other for push to talk) or I'm permanently putting down the controller to switch the mic on and off so I don't spam the chat room with in-game/background noise.

I play on PS3 and use my laptop for Mumble/TS. I have my levels set perfectly so that it doesn't pick up background noise and just my voice. And I just plug in my controller to my laptop whenever I need to charge. That way I'm not hindered by the cable or the lack of USB slots on the ps3. I imagine I'll be able to do the same on the PS4
