Classes worth leveling past 30?

As my classes (GLA & LNC) approach 30, I am wondering if there is any point in continuing them, or is it expected that I will switch to a job right away? I'm a very casual gamer, meaning I only play 5-10 hrs per week and am not interested in end game hardcore stuff. But I don't want to piss off dungeon groups if sticking with a class gimps me, and I don't want to waste time leveling classes if a job is necessary for content. Is there any point in lvl 50 classes?

Classes will level with your job.

If you are a gladiator at 30 and unlock paladin. Playing paladin to 31 will also increase your gladiator to 31.

You should change to the job for dungeons though. Stay as class for solo if you want. You get more cross class abilities that way.

In my humble opinion, drop classes at 30, and continue on with jobs.

Yeah jobs are not an Advance class, and are more of an accessory.

That said most classes don't learn there final cross-class skill until level 34, and if you leveled them to 30 might as well go to 34 and pick up the last skill. Some are extremely useful.

Most classes you'll want to take to 34. In most cases that's the highest level cross class skill. The big exception is PGL/MNK, which has Mantra at 42.

In the case of LNC you should definitely unlock DRG and get it to 34 for Blood For Blood, which is a very useful DPS cross class skill.
