I didn't buy 1.0 because of the horrible lag to the jap servers thre is nothing more infuriating then dying because of lag in a game to me. Now, I can't play any hard content without a vpn in ARR.
I'm lucky to have relatively cheap vpn that cuts on my ping but if the price did go up I would not use it any more, I would probably just quit because thing like TitanHM/EX and so on, would become Impossible to do.
It irks me that I have to use a vps to play a game, I hate it and even with vpn my connection is not perfect. If I didn't find this vpn I would not play ARR I'm 100%sure about it. So EU server in the future are welcome.
