I don't think they will ever change the combat speed because pushing buttons stresses people out. The more buttons people push the more they get stressed out, so it has to be slow.

See, for me it's the opposite. I tend to get really uncomfortable when combat is moving too slow. I had that issue at first with FFXIV, though I've sort of grown used to it after ~6 months. But back during my warcraft days, I legitimately switched from an Arms Warrior to a Frost DK because Frost DK's could get their GCD under 1 second. I have no idea how people can main DPS in FFXIV, it so damn slow...
