We are getting new recipes in 2.2, but alchemy is not being more any more efficient with their potions making Alchemy next to useless. Yoshi has said something very close to this and I am not looking it up, I believe it was in one of the Live Letters we got "3 months of good economy followed by 3 months of poor economy" 2.0 crafters had a lot to do, 2.1 economy nearly died with the release of CT which made getting gear for Coil a lot faster, so people when getting to 50 would unlock CT and get better gear than what could be crafted. Only the weapons you need for the relic sells for a decent price, and I haven't made very much gil off of Potions since they are practically useless. I gave a healer friend of mine a stack of 99 X-Ethers HQ for free because they aren't selling, and she already had a full stack of them from the month before because... they weren't selling. All the stat potions are a joke. Only Culinarian is useful, and even I have seen those markets plummet even more since everyone started to make food and flood the market with their food and undercut a lot of the food by almost 1-2k when the food was originally selling for 4-6k, now its like 2k.

So 2.2 we are getting more crafting, and when 2.3 comes, we will get nothing. Hence the 3 months of economy followed by 3 months of no economy.

Make raid gear the best in stats and the crafted gears the best in look (and raid gear not very good looking).
this, i like this idea by the way. if crafters where meant to craft good looking gears ( crap stats ) then im all up for it. i dont know how the community feels about collecting alot of vanity gears, but if collecting minions is the same, then this will be a hell of market ( and hope that vanity gears are also like gears which will be bounded, which makes it unsellable being worn, and if it looks crap after equipping it, thats too bad you cannot re sell it hehehe )

I see on the lodestone you are wear full HQ crafted gear. Please remove all gear and vendor it as the professions that make that gear are useless. If crafting professions no should exist, then gear you are wear should no exist.

I prefer to not have to dungeon grind for my gear. Which is why I leveled all crafts. Then, I found out that even if I wanted to craft my high level gear, I would be required to run dungeons to get tomestones. And if I'm running dungeons, I might as well just get darklight. Which is what led me to my current frustration
I recently gained a few levels on blm, which is why I'm back to hq crafted gear. If you check back after my next gaming session, you'll see that I'll be wearing a mix of crafted gear and gear that I'm getting from levequests. I don't NEED to be wearing the crafted gear, I'm wearing it just because I can.

It's gotten to the point where I think Yoshi just keeps crafting and gathering around because that's a "standard feature" in a modern MMO. Everything from crafted item usability to the crafting quest scenarios have been dumbed down in ARR in fear that people will focus too much on crafting and not enough on dungeoneering. (Source: "Preserving the Appeal of Dungons" http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1578532)

It's a shame that crafting has become a skeleton of what it was since re-launch. But maybe now that the game has 1.8 million subscribers, SE can take a risk and come out of their self-imposed crafter-hate and give crafters some love. I for one would love more crafter quests that delve deeper into the stories of each city-state and its inhabitants rather than "Make X and Deliver to Y" ala the horrid Carpenter quest line.

But remember, workshops some time in the future. Please look forward to it?

It are more that you say crafting professions are useless, and then wear full crafted gear...

What i would love would be for us to craft vanity gear the same way all exclusive dungeon gear is, using materials dropped on the dungeon and tomestones to craft exactly looking non-stat dyable versions of gear dropped in dungeons or tradeable for tomestones.

    Want to dye allagan? pay.
    Want to dye onion? pay.
    Want to dye darklight? pay.
    Want to dye AF? pay.

The dyable versions would be just "skins" you could use ONCE over your gear, so they match the Ilvl of the item you which version you want but you keep those stats. That would be just fine. Crafters would not craft BiS, crafters will crafts for something more than turn in leves or other crafters materials and gear.

There are plenty of things in this game to qq about but crafting isn't one of them in my opinion.
Disagree, crafting here is no where close to what SWG had (prior to those 3 letters). Mind you it is better then 90% of the crafting systems I have encountered in my mmo years.

In regards to someone a few pages back asserting the having gear player made on par to drops would lead to more RMT transaction for the "win." That frankly is already happening, it is called buying your primal, coil carry. I could be as lazy as a (insert something lazy here), buy RMT then buy all my primal carries (I see the advertised in Mor Dhona all the time and you get the drops), the same with coil. So lets not blame the boogie man, a.k.a. RMT.
While I can understand some bigotry about crafted gear versus "earned" gear, I think get that twisted over pixels is a bit silly.

Some things that could help creating a bottleneck so we are not any more over ran by crafted gear versus "earned" gear:
    a. Someone described specialization: make is so that no matter how many 50 DoH you have accomplied you can only specialize in one, then make is so that one specialization would have one or two items that you could make and only self wear that were comparable to bis.
    b. Bind mnaterials: Make it so that the top end items require an item that drops in a top end 4 man run, but the item that drops bind to the toon that picks it up. This would frankly suck for the OP that wishes to avoid dungeons, but it would lock out speed rund for items that you in turn sell on the MB, and the price wars that in turn would make your "good" gear cost trivial.
    c. While it would cause 90% of the player base a heart attack (in some cases in the real world), have item decay, by this I mean you items take damage, you repair them and they take less damage, in other words repairs of an item give you diminishing returns until said item eventually turns to dust and you need to get a new item. (least viable option in this game granted).

I really was a fan of the SWG system. this one is not bad, but it is not and will not be a player based economy.

They should make (at least some) coil drops "damaged" and you have to take them to a crafter to get them repaired to use them. They'd be untradable, but you'd have a system like materia where the person with it opens a window with the crafter, crafter agrees to fix it, and it's done without the gear actually changing hands. Now you have something for crafters to do end game, and you make sure people still have to run dungeons to obtain the gear in the first place.

You have my contact info, SE. Let me know if you want to give me a job. A corner office, if you'd please.
