This character existed. Their name was Rio and they were on the Caitsith server of FFXI. Every job max level and every piece of BiS gear that was current. Not a single person in my LS or any other LS ever saw them logged out. Different people would talk to them and they seemed different a lot. Our only theory was that multiple people played the account

Oh really? Hmmm, a RMT maybe? But then they technically are working! :P I dunno, I guess FFXI was a different animal.... more old school. You could find more stuff to do perhaps back then if you stayed on? Not so much now... but people still like the game of course. Maybe that's just the modern way. I'll kind of be happier though when there are some more bosses to try. I'm looking forward to the patch upcoming.

Invade their world as a dark wraith and kill them, that is how you kill someone that's already dead apparently. Because if you have no life you're obviously dead.

Such people do exist. It's none of my business what they do with their time, but they're definitely out there. If you can think of something, for example one with no social life chances are they exist. I am insure about why you're asking for validation of your thoughts when you know the answer.

I don't think that it is they don't ever log out, however.. there are plenty of people who will be on no matter when you log on. At alot of times, I think these people are the folks who are retired, or have no job, or have some medical reason preventing them from actually going outside as much as they should. Maybe even some "work at home" people but I get the feeling at more times it's mostly the first two I mentioned. Also the botters, and also people who don't need to do anything because they have some sort of support doing everything for them already, like parents, or a spouse. Could be some independently rich people out there too, who knows.

There is no way for a player to actually know if someone never logs off unless they too are also never logging off. At any rate, I'd be willing to bet when you see folks who have maxed out and cosumed everything from 0 at 2.0 a few months after launch, they'd be in one of those categories. For some of those people the game is their life. They'll cut ya for pointing it out, so tread lightly in midst of pixels in the online world.
