TIL Ifrit's Infernal Howl is Line of Sight

Someone on Reddit posted this information, so I thought it'd be useful to everyone doing Ifrit EX. It can easily be solo healed now (or still two healers, just having them aware), with either healer running through Ifrit when he's casting the infernal howl. If you run though him, it'll interrupt his cast and you won't have to deal with that mechanic (since you can interrupt it every time he casts it by running through him). It allows one (or both) healers to stay in the center with the party the whole time.

As others in the thread stated, this will likely be the way it's healed in the future as there are no negatives (except that healers will need to dodge eruptions with everyone).

I'll gladly post the thread, but unsure if I'm able to link to the unofficial reddit on here.

    Hope this helps everyone.

Never been able to do Ifrit extreme yet since I haven't bothered doing titan extreme but that sounds like an exploit and will most likely be fixed.

That's like saying it's an exploit for tanks to run through slip stream on Garuda to avoid it. It's doing the exact same thing to avoid the infernal howl.

But who knows, they might ninja patch it. In the meantime, it's a legit way to beat it imho.

Except Slipstream is an AoE, Searing Wind is a targeted spell...

Wicked Wheel is the AoE, not Slipstream. Slipstream is a Cone attack.

AoE means "Area of Effect"...any attack that covers an area is an AoE.

Slipstream is a cone AoE. The various attacks on Archeron are all AoEs, not just Moonfall Slash. Titan's Tumults and Weight of the Land are both AoEs as is Mountain Buster, though they all have different areas they effect.

AoEs don't just originate from the attacker, like in Wicked Wheel or Steel Cyclone; they're just one form of AoE. You're showing as a DRG...is Doom Spike not an AoE, even though it has a rectangular damage-zone?

AoE = Area of Effect, meaning any ability which targets an area rather than a single target. You can have a straight line or column AoE, PBAoE (point-blank AoE, in a circle around the caster), cone AoE, etc.

On topic, certainly not an exploit, though they may still change it as they did with most other such spells. Might be an oversight.

sadly it is not, it is a common game mechanic. The same apply to player where mobs run pass you while you channel spell
