I guess the fact that I have every EX weapon and am currently wearing the ifrit bangles on my lodestone means I've never beaten it. Nice assumption there. With no infernal howl you don't to rely on your DPS stacking so you can cure III from range during nail phases. It's also less damage to heal on yourself, or worrying about staying away from your party. If you don't understand why not having to deal with a damaging mechanic makes something easier, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm not saying it's ground breaking, but it's something that allows you to bypass a mechanic that deals otherwise unavoidable damage. Why would that ever not help with solo healing or healing in general?

Being able to Medica I / II the group in solo heals during nails instead of having to repeatedly cast Cure III from range is much better on the MP as well since it's constant damage (from each nail breaking). That's not even accounting for if a SCH is solo healing it.

Billzey guessed you had never healed Ifrit, it's right there in the quote you posted. I have all primal weapons too but I sure never healed there.

You're just arguing semantics. Regardless, since it apparently isn't clear to you or Billzey; I earned every one of those EX weapons on my WHM class specifically.

This will be fun to try later with some of my friends. We want to see if it's possible to solo heal as a SCH. It's just for fun though, we can easily heal it normally.

Doubtful. the amount of healing needed is insane, especially phase 3. The tank healing requirement alone would be above a sch's power and only because whms can cure3 can you keep the tanks up long enough, to heal the team from nail breaking.

The only way I can see around it, is 3 brds with back to back soul voice ballad, with a sch spamming succor in the middle, or a smn that helps heal, with a lot of buff dps to make up the lack of damage.

neither of which would be consider "solo heal" as you're gimping everyone else to replace a healer.

Besides which, there's no point to solo heal ifrit. He would just enrage and kill you all.

Agreed that there's not a super good benefit to solo healing it, as they generally finish at the same time a normal run would be. But this thread wasn't only about being able to solo healing it; if the healers focus target ifrit they can just avoid a damaging mechanic the whole fight. And it just makes the option to solo heal better if you WANTED to do so. Since from other threads it seems okay, here's a link to the thread and the video they took:

I wouldn't want to try this out, there is the possibility of it going horribly, horribly wrong. Like having everyone in PT get hurt by searing wind? Since you know, they stack at Ifrits' arse.

Not good to try this out.

Wow it's like you're forced to use a specific strategy you found in a video or something...

Potatoes/Tomatoes then. I consider AoE/PBAoE/Cones all differently. Helps to keep them straight. Guess it was a City of Heroes thing how we kept them apart, so "Watch for the Cone" Meant the attacks down the middle, "Watch the PBAoE" and "Watch the AoE" meant either they do it around them, or a spot one the map.

And to that answer, no I don't consider Doom Spike an AoE by my definition. It's a Cone. It's all a mater of opinion I guess.

But like I said, it was pretty much just to keep things from overlapping definitions.

    Side note: R.I.P. CoH/CoV :'(

No point of calling this an exploit or something since you have people who seriously argue what AoE means...LOL. It's like breaking Primal Ex scripts so they ignore your existence in the battle due to a weird conflict with pet scripts.

You're forcing it to interrupt by using "mechanics" against it - TECHNICALLY an exploit but is also an actual game mechanic.
