    Question about upgrading from PS3 to PS4

    I played FFXIV on PS3 before Christmas, and I really loved it. But the PS3 was showing its age trying to run it so I decided to stop playing until the PS4 version came out.

    Anyway, I have been trying to find an answer to this question but havent been able to.

    To upgrade my account from PS3 to PS4 do I need the PS3 disc to FFXIV? as I cant find it I never needed it to play on PS3 so it other than the initial install it was never in the console, and now I cant find it just an emtpy box.

    Will I need this disc to upgrade on PS4 and use my same character and account?

    As far as I know there should be an option to transfer your PS3 account to the PS4 version for free when it launches, however when you do transfer you will not be able to use your account on the PS3 anymore. I would assume there will be a free download of the client on the PS4 at launch. If it follows what happened on the PS3 then if you already have the beta client installed on the PS4 it will just get updated to the release version.
