In the meantime, let's make it easier for melee and nerf magic. Derp
I would like to believe there will be multiple pet jobs like in XI, and that they will be jobs, not classes. i.e. Conjuror get summoner, THM get necromancer, MRD get beastmaster, LNC get a dragon pet job (can't say dragoon since it sounds like they're coming first), PGL get pupetmaster... Maybe far down the road but basically an expansion that offers all classes a pet job. This would also solve the problem of everyone switching to the one class to summon...
The pet job would basically give you a pet but SEVERELY restrict your own abilities.
Needs to be done right instead of being another gimped pet class. I'm not entirely sure Squenix is ready to take on the task. It also seems like Squenix is in the process of pigeonholing the classes into being one trick ponies. Finally, adding a summoning class is a good gimmick for a paid expansion or the PS3 release.
Put those things together and I don't think Squenix is going to implement them right now.
No one expects the miquote inquisition!!!
Are we going to get new Disciples of Magic before the new job system comes out at least?
Pushing this thread back up.
The timelines show no indication of any new Disciple of Magic classes being implemented in the coming year or two...
Few of the interviews that Yoshi-P has been barely talked about them, saying with class balancing they will be put on hold. What exactly is the real reason for these jobs being held up?
I am going to sound like a broken record here...
I am sorry I find the fact that I am going to be paying soon, to just sit around, being bored as all hell. When I am not doing a linkshell event, I am literally doing nothing. I have no other disciples of magic to level because there are only 2. I keep my sanity by crafting weaver, but like I stated earlier in the thread at 06-30-2011 11:03 PM I want to throw myself into traffic.
At least for the next year i could slowly level at my own pace to 50 on a new disciple of magic to make the wait less bad.
When can we expect new classes for Disciple of Magic?
I'm hoping that summoner will receive other skills than just sommoning.
i mean debuffs or weak damage spells for example. that would be fine.
other things i can do besides controlling your pet.
they already said that they are aiming to release more DOM by 2.0 release.Pushing this thread back up.

dont expect to see any classes/jobs before then.
i too hope summoner gets a few other spells other than just summoning. i always imagined they should have a couple offensive and defensive spells of their own.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Could you post a link for me please? I have been looking for one where they mentions the release of it. If it's not coming out till Oct 2013, then I guess it's time for a big break then...they already said that they are aiming to release more DOM by 2.0 release.

This is what I've found so far:

Gamer EscapeBecause I got on to the project in last December after a lot of decisions had already been made, there was the decision on the table to bring those two classes in after launch. However, once I got on to the project, it was my job to re-assess the situation, and we decided that rather than bring in something just because it was there, it was more important to look at what the game needed and bring that in instead.
If you look at the game right now, the balance is more toward physical attack classes with very few caster classes. Looking at MMOs, we realize that this is not a good balance to have, so the first thing that we're going to be doing after introducing the job system is probably introduce another caster class because that's what the game needs. We realize that currently, the game is lacking in a lot of crowd control type of spells, and we need these to make battles more strategic. To introduce these types of spells, we think one obvious way is to introduce a new caster class that's able to handle them.
Yoshida: Currently the class balance is… there are a lot of attacker type classes and not enough caster classes. So our first priority if we’re adding new classes, is to start with caster classes and the second would be to add a pet class. Because right now there are no pet classes. If you talk about MMOs almost all of them have their pet class and so we need a pet class and we want to beef up the choices on the casting class side. Those are our top priorities. After that we can think about adding new attacker classes. The talk that’s going about saying that Arcanist and Musketeer are going to be next… those might not necessarily be the ones that are next. Yes they do appear in the scenarios and it looks like the foundations are there, but whether those will be the next ones or not, it again, depends more on… we’re looking at what the game needs rather than what’s already there. So if it means starting up something new so we can fill that, then yes, we’ll do that. As far as the job system and what jobs will be attached to them… we don’t know. As for the timing, we still don’t know if it’s going to be before 2.0. There’s a chance it could be before, and there’s a chance that it could be after.
As you know, the biggest problem with adding a new class is all the stuff you have to add with it. If you add a new class, you have to add a new job. When you add a new class and job, it means you have class and job quests and then you have class and job items and then you have battle balance and so it’s a lot of extra work. We first want to get the system with our current classes in place and balanced and once that’s done to a point we’re happy with, then the next step is adding those next classes. We have a list internally of what classes we’re thinking of and the jobs those go to. As for when they get done… that depends on the schedule. If everything works out then yes we’ll get these classes and jobs in sooner then hopefully you’re expecting.
