Entering so called endgame. Any tip?

    Good morning, dear people.

Note: You can skip all the text if you don't want to read pointless stuff of a noob and just jump to the finish line where I short it all. ^^

Noob here reached 45, or 46 with the warrior (Can't remember). Because the level of my warrior exceeded too much my other DoW classes, I'm having to tank dungeons for first time even if I didn't like it .

(It's a little stressful when you already know some of the dungeon, but even more when you try tanking it your first time, so I used in the earlier dungeons my dragoon or bard for 'exploring' before tanking.)

But recently I can't do that, I needed to do Stone Vigil and another dungeon of 44 which's name I don't remember (For GC issues) first-tanking, and I noticed that people starts already to claim me to have good gear. For example in the level 44 dungeon someone said why I didn't have "af1". Of course my reply was.. "I'm a noob, I dunno dafuq is that 'af1'" (I'm not good for short names)

Oh, well, it turned to be a easy equipment obtained in my job level 45 quest, really easy that was incredible better than my cavalry set and other grand company stuff I had...

To the point, from now on, it seems that dungeons are going to become even more difficult and especially require to the tank having a lot of super gear...Also, even if I am actually one of those tanks that enjoy tanking (I like the feeling of protect the others) experiencing a dungeon with tank as first-timer and with low gear is really a pain, I'm seeing my vit drop brutally in many cases and I need to quickly activate a lot of small emergency trickies for recover HP fast such as second wind + thrill of battle, or arctivate bloodbath + berserk and spam malm+stormpath + inner beast when available, or foresight + convalescence.

I have to say that the stress of it and to see your vit dropping so fast and struggling for life is kind of exciting, but the idea of know that the healer is having a bad time because me kind of ruin that.

So... Where and how do I obtain the gear required for the following content if I reach level 50? What kind of progression should I follow for not making everyone ragequit just because my gear sucks and they have no patience?

I suppose farming Labyrinth of the Ancients is the way to go, when you finish up the questline. Gives 200 Tomestones of Phil. and 50 Tomestones of Myth. each run, and since there are 5 other tanks, you most likely dont have to be maintank so doesnt require super gear.

Also doing Main Scenario roulette once a day is good way to earn Phil. tokens, 300 with the daily bonus.

Gear comes from NPC's in Mor Dhona, Philos used for i70 gear, myths for i90. Also Labyrinth drops some i80 gear, though one loot / week.

Coils drops also i90 gear but there u want at least full philo. set, more the better.

Thanks for the quick answer, mvenom-san!....

So It is time to continue main story line without care much about it until unlock some dungeons such as Labyrinth of the Ancients and so... About the tomes of phil and myth, I obtained a few of phil in Stone Vigil and the dungeon with weird name lvl 44. (Dzmael something)... So after that I'll obtain in roulette tomes? because can't remember if I obtained a few in the roulette of that day, I think not.

    Regards.

You can only do Main Scenario roulette at 50 when you unlock those main scenario dungeons. They itself give 100 philo's, and the daily bonus is 200 philo's.

You also may want to do couple Ifrit hardmodes for decent sword if you cant afford the i70 sword from market place (cant recommend buying it).

    Dungeon difficulty (increasing, not ilvl):
    darkhold (44) < wanderers palace (50) < brayflox (32) < stone vigil (41) < cutters cry (38) < aurum vale (47) < amdagor keep (50) < copperbell (50) < haukke (50) < pharaos (50).
If you have at least average i40 - can do lv44 and lv41 dungeons.
For the high roulette (70 myth tomes) need at least two lv50 dungeons unlocked, having WP and AK is enough. 80% of my AK runs wipe at least once, and 1/3 of copperbell runs disband due inability of finishing it (i play healer).
For main scenario roulette (300 phyl tomes) need at least two main scenario dungeons unlocked, they are so easy - half of team can be carried, so i suggest to rush them.
CT drops i80 gear, which is no use for main class - can use for alt classes.
And start trying titan hard mode in duty finder - people are not asamed to que there with like 2700 max life, and in fact 95% of wipes are caused by inability to dance, so just start learning to. For one player in my guild it took around 100 tries to finish titan.

i80 is not useless on your main, unless you are full i90 geared (which isnt the case here). Its better than Darklight (i70) and costs you nothing + you get currency for i70 + i90 gear while you are getting i80 gear.

^this. start off slow and build up. just running into the harder stuff would bring bad times.

Try and ONLY unlock what you HAVE to for the story and dont unlock the optional dungeons yet (unless you are missing one for roulette). By doing that as a new Endgamer, when you use the duty roulette, you get to participate in the stuff you are familiar with and should be geared for. It makes it easier on you.

Roulette gives you ~500phil and ~90? myth if you do all 3 main ones daily. so you can cap your myth every week easy and have enough phil to get a lot of DL pieces to increase your ilvl.

previously leveled up other classes before turning to a tank. By the time I got by PLD to Stone Vigil, I had forgotten the dungeon. Yes, it is very stressful to enter a dungeon where you don't know what's coming.
Generally you need to have equipment at around the level of the dungeon. The tank usually needs to be better equipped than the rest of the party. Having a better weapon allows you to hold aggro better.

Some people are elitist and will give you uphill for your equipment. This is wrong as you don't need to be that heavily equipped for stuff until you start hitting the lv50 dungeons.

The DPS classes often forget that it is also their job to manage their aggro. If you're losing aggro because they're attacking the wrong things, or because there is movement involved and the BRD is going psycho and not watching the aggro bar, then that is their fault, not yours. If you lose aggro to the healer, then you need to either change your rotation, get better equipment, or tell the healer to stop over-healing.

Are you part of a FC? Best bet is to find a healer lazing around there who is happy to run the dungeons with you. When I ran AK for the first time it was with a healer from my FC. They popped up at the start and told the DPS not to go insane, just take it easy since I was new. Some DPS may be unhappy that you're not going insane and speed running stuff, but most will be okay with it. Everyone knows that you need to learn somewhere.

TLR - it's not just about equipment.

For equipping, it depends on how much cash you have. Since you're a new tank, I presume very little. Do the story roulette every day and get Darklight gear asap. Get a lv50 weapon from your company - you won't be spending marks on much else. As soon as you can, start running the lv50 dungeons - preferably with understanding people that don't expect speed runs.
While CT is good for getting armour, the DF people are often unforgiving. As a tank, Ifrit HM is an easy fight. Run that until you get your weapon.

But 1 CT run does not mean 1 piece of gear for you (per week), and you need 9 CT runs to cap weekly myth, and i80 gear will be no use in 2 months after gearing in i90 (or even sooner if 2.2 is installed before that). Also lv50 dungeons will teach how to play your role, while in CT many people are carried and learn nothing. But for alts CT is good, because almost any drop can be useful for them.

Your best bet is to get your Artifact Gear (also known as AF or AF1) from your Job Quests at Level 45 and Level 50. That will carry you into post-storyline content after you complete Castrum Meridianum and the Praetorium. At that point I'd suggest running Main Scenario Roulette and Low Level Roulette daily to get bonus Tomestones of Philosophy (You can get 400 a day this way, 300 from Main Scenario and 100 from Low Level). You will also be able to unlock Amdapor Keep and Wanderer's Palace once you hit Level 50, and they give out 100 Tomes of Philosophy and 30 Tomes of Mythology. (Access to Amdapor Keep requires that you complete the optional dungeon "Aurum Vale" first.) Unlocking the Crystal Tower/Labyrinth of the Ancients can help you as well since it can earn you 200 Tomes of Philosophy and 50 Tomes of Mythology.

Tomes of Philosophy and Mythology can be traded to Auriana at Rowena's stand in Revenant's Toll, Mor Dhona for high level gear. Philosophy Tomes will let you purchase the Darklight Gear (Item Level 70) and Mythology Tomes will let you purchase the Myth/Artifact 2 (AF2) gear (Item Level 90).

You'll likely need at least one or two of the Darklight gear, some of the gear drops found in Crystal Tower (Item Level 80), or some of the crafted Item Level 60-70 gear in order to get your iLvl high enough to access Hard Mode Primals, Hard Mode Dungeons, and the Thornmarch (part of the 2.1 story questline.)

You'll also want to unlock the "A Relic Reborn" questline as soon as you are able and work towards completing it (its a semi long process, just be forewarned.) Your relic weapon is Item Level 80 and will be extremely useful for endgame content.
