More Diversity with Mounts

Is it just me or do mounts feel a bit sluggish in this game? I'd be ok if SE made them just a tad faster.

While I would like Mounts to have different abilities...I do prefer them to just be for vanity right now. Like its been said, people would just go crazy over which is the "best" and harass those without that one mount

However...I would LOVE for them to all be used as companions, and to have different abilities there

You will need for build airship to access new expansion area, I are call it now.

We don't really need to be able to cross all of Eorzea in ten minutes guys.

So you are no use teleport option? Because that are let you cross Eorzea in seconds. I are admire your dedication to immersion!

Two things:
1. We need more visual differences, but we don't need different speeds. As someone who collected mounts in WoW, it's kind of upsetting for me when the total mounts in the game numbers... what, 5? Maybe 6? I don't really count the different bardings, because I hate the bird and they won't go on my unicorn.
2. Right now mounts behave exactly like your character, but faster. What if, and just think about this for a moment, but what if mounts behaved more like individual entities? Think of Epona from the Legend of Zelda games. Yeah you have control over it, but it definitely gives some resistance. It feels like a horse. Even better, instead of the animal teleporting out of our asses, what if we called the Chocobo with a whistle, and it spawned just out of sight, then ran over to us? Then we could double-click to hop on, and off we go. W

Why am I the only person who ever seems to want that from MMO mounts?

I'd really like the gear (barding) for my bird to be more than simply vanity. I meant he Odin barding should increase the birds abilities or something along those lines!

I found it silly my Ahriman pretty much flops on the ground when I "fly" off the cliff.

Like others have said I'd like some off the mounts to be companions as well. It should not be too difficult to implemend. Just use the chocobo companion leveling system and replace the code for chocobo to something else.

Maybe once they reach lv 10 they can use thier iconic attacks

Well, according to Square Enix, in a Letter from Dev,

Oh! Thanks Hmmm yeah I can see them taking that in the direction Allods went with their airships (which isn't a bad thing if done better).

We're getting airships, eventually. You will be able to craft those.
