I agree with total damage mattering the most, since everyone I parsed with had different numbers for some reason even though everyone I know uses ACT. You can say that you are parsing over 320+ and yet be doing less total damage than the one who parsed like 290-300.
Overall, in my static:
T1 - SMN / BRD almost outdps
T2 - SMN (I feel like this depends on what route your taking. There's one where ADS get slight damage reduction to magic damage and the other is piercing and blunt damage.)
T4 - BLM / SMN
T5 - SMN
I will have to disagree on this though. SMN do have the ability to outdps almost anyone. SMN should DoT the non-Bane targets and use Miasma 2, Shadowflare, and Rouse+Enkindle. I would even use bane twice in t4 for the spider mobs.T4: BLM on AoE and total damage. MNK on single target and 2nd overall if he knows how to manage his TP for some AoE. Bane only affects 3 targets; if there are a lot of targets, SMN can't even beat MNK, DRG, and even BRD in AoE if those jobs are going all out, so no freaking way they gonna beat BLM. If you lose to a SMN on this turn as BLM, I'm sorry but you fail HARD.
Here's 2 instances where I did the most damage than almost everyone in my party:
http://i.imgur.com/a64EqTC.png (123664 total damage. I barely outdps the BLM here, but he's not usually in the static.)
http://i.imgur.com/SSf5RsB.png (122580 total damage. Now, this is my static BLM and we had a different DRG in this one.)
Total damage doesn't really mean much. Bosses have finite hp, higher numbers only means you stomped the rest of your group's dps harder and claimed more of that hp for yourself. Lousy team mates will inflate your total damage, doesn't mean you're good.

Keep failing HARD blackmages.
