PUP was my fav class in FFXI as well. However, I don't want to see it in FFXIV. They butchered SMN and turned it into a WoW Warlock I don't want to see them destroy my fav class as well. Plus the HUDs. I just cannot figure out how they would make a heavy pet focused class with the current HUD system.

What's point of suggestin that job? You never read live letters or whatever? THERE IS NO JOBS being mentioned yet.
Jobs will be added within a year or so.
whats the point of bitching me out on a thread i started? so what, you dont agree with it, that certainly doesnt mean you have to bash my suggestion or anyone else just because you think its dumb. you have every right to your opinion but that doesnt entitled to be a complete dick face just because I or someone else liked a certain class in a previous game.
He's also said that they're only going to add iconic jobs that fill a mechanical niche that is not currently filled (his specific reason is due to the amount of effort required in developing a new class). Puppetmaster would basically be a tweaked SMN and only exists in a single previous FF game. As such, it's not really fulfilling a vacant niche nor is it iconic. On top of that, there are a bunch of other jobs that are iconic, in demand, and actually fill a vacant niche (Red Mage, Thief/Ninja, some kind of magic tank, dancer, dark knight) which means that, even if Puppetmaster were something that they wanted to do eventually, it wouldn't be added until they'd implemented a bunch of others.
I don't believe that will be any major decision making deal. He may have said that at one time, but that doesn't hold true to the possible nature of what they can add. If Musketeer is added first, then the statement isn't true at all. He wants to pull in different job ideas, but this isn't necessarily a necessity. We could end up with a year before the Thief/Ninja class/Job and get others that are already filled as far as role and job type goes.He's also said that they're only going to add iconic jobs that fill a mechanical niche that is not currently filled (his specific reason is due to the amount of effort required in developing a new class). I wouldn't say Dancer is a needed class depending on what you want her to do. I mean she could easily be a Melee version of the Bard, a debuff opposite of the Bard with similar schematics, or a Physical healer. I can't say she's a needed or mandatory class. There's nothing to say that they won't implement other physical tanks in before we get a Magic Tank as well, and we can get more generic Magic or Melee DPS at the same time as well before we get anything "new". All we are capable of is giving out educated guesses and an educated guess would say anything can come out between 2.2 and the first Expansion.
They could even break the Class/Job implemented before first expansion promise. I would assume balancing what we already have would be a higher priority before adding something that currently isn't in the game in any way shape or form, such as new Job types. For Balance, new tanks would be top priority, at least to see if that balances out the lack of there of. If not, then possible addition of benefits for playing Tank. If all else fails and cannot be fixed due to player issue, then move on to the next biggest and greatest.
As for PUP. I don't have an honest opinion on the class not being a FFXI player, but I heard the maintenance cost was high. With our current issues with making Gil and maintaining the economy, I wouldn't want a Gil sink class to come out and not be playable because you can't afford to keep up with the cost of the character.
The cost isn't so much the problem. The issue was more that the automaton was a terrible melee, physical ranged was decent and caster was close to broken due to the ADD design oversight. It had a unique aesthetic and I guess a different "feel" from other pet jobs like BST and SMN, but as Kitru said the job is not exactly iconic and is an FFXI-exclusive.As for PUP. The devs eventually had to admit giving the automaton the bulk of the job's performance was a mistake (which had relegated PUP to be the lol job of lol jobs) and buffed the hell out of the PUP themselves. It wouldn't be hard to insert PUP-like job using that job's aesthetic, but I can guarantee it would be nowhere near what the people asking for PUP think it would. It may have a callback or two to XI's version, but it wouldn't be a job with a customizable pet.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Musketeer is a class that they've been intending to implement from early on in ARR's development (Yoshi has said so and it's why MSK is basically the first new class we expect to get). It's not a "new" class so much as one that they had to cut out of the current release due to release dates and limited resources. It's a lot like Crystal Tower in that respect.
Any class beyond MSK would need to be iconic and fill a vacant niche. MSK gets to break the "rule" for reasons that no other class has.
Remember that Puppetmaster is very much the "mime" equivilent job from previous installments of the game, being able to largely mimic skills from other people but not as well.
As much as I;d love to see it though I doubt it'll happen.
