What would qualify as "real evidence"? 3 free companies I have been in have died. Some of the best free companies on my server are down to half members because they are now bored due to having 4+ i90 classes.

I think that's the main problem, they gave us the chance to keep our class/job levels, so what happens? since open beta we started doing the new content and because of our level we were able to clear lots of content in a single week after release, if they wiped our levels but left us with our items I think most of us legacies would still have a lot to do in the game, maxing all our classes to equip our former items.

The leveling is too fast, the content is very linear, you can get a class to 50 in days and the current endgame content is not enough to keep us busy, even with all those lockouts, the only thing they succeed with this is frustrate people...

I can sympathize. The same thing is happening in my FC to some degree.

The developers have accomplished their objective with catching up to Western MMORPG standards. However, their goal was never to surpass them, at least not in the initial release of the game. There are signs that they are noticing the issues within the game, as can be seen by several different kinds of lockout mechanisms, including a passive lockout in terms of the extreme primal fights. However, the primary reason for lockouts, that is to keep the community on similar footing in terms of progress, simply does not work. We know this from years of MMORPG experience which tells us that those who spend more time on the game will always be in a different world from those who have hefty time constraints.

The real challenge facing current designers of MMOGs is creating an end game that justifies a subscription fee and allows the people living in different worlds to play together with a positive atmosphere. Creating encounters where players can effectively choose how difficult the encounter will be is the key to doing that, as can be demonstrated by games in other genres like Skyrim, Terraria/Minecraft, and The Sims. I use the term encounter loosely to define any kind of challenge the player can be faced with, and I'm not saying that hard boss fights can't exist, but that the focus of end game shouldn't be boss fights. A game can't unify players with less experience and those with more experience when progress in the game can be determined objectively with numbers and statistics.

I thought about how they could fix it where people would do dungeons.

Do what they did with the artifact weapons in FFXI byne bills and such, going through dungeons and make them rare to drop to make a good weapon that has its own weapon skill and have each dungeon drop different things for the weapons.

Have maybe a chance special boss monster appear that has a piece for the weapon in dungeon but pops rarely maybe doing it a couple of times till it pops, make the items to be sold on market.

Fates can be involved also you have to beat different fates in order to finish weapon and so many fates need to be done. need something like this make dungeons have random gear or gold bronze or tin in treasure chest or said artifact weapon items.

If you have 1 successful group and have it on farm status you can cycle in the people who are having problems with it each week and take different people in your FC until you cleared it with everyone. The you go problem solved.

People are quitting because this isn't an MMO; it's an eight-player co-op game.

You do the same content weekly with the same eight people; you aren't even allowed to help others once you've done the end-game content for the week. If you don't manage to have exactly 7 friends, you suffer the party finder. If you have over 7 friends, the rest get screwed.

The lockout is largely to blame.

This, and I'm not confident that it is going to get better in 2.2 either. Yeah sure, Turns 1-5 are being added to the Duty Finder. Hip hip hooray. But now that content is outdated with the new Coils coming in, which ARE going to be locked out. So, in a sense, we just repeat this same vicious cycle all over again.

I really hate telling someone else who is newly 50, got their Relic and looking to start Coil: "Oh, sorry mate. I can't help you with your first Coil because I have a static but good luck." I'm perfectly willing to go in and teach them, even if we wipe multiple times. But all they get 90% of the time is dead silence or "I'm sorry, but lockouts." I had to do this today, and all I could do was wish them luck. I'm not even sure if they even managed to do Coil, and I hate this feeling of I can't do anything about it.
