Unable to Complete Version check

last night i was able to login fine and complete the version checks. now i try to open up the launcher and every time it says unable to check verson

may be a mismatch in the version file and the backup of that file. Some have reported getting that error when one is blank. Navigate to the game subfolder in the installation folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game

Open the ffxivgame.ver and ffxivgame.bck files in a text editor and make sure they are both showing a version number. If successfully updated and verified after the next login, they should be the same. If they are different, may need to set them both to the same number. Whether that is the lower or higher can't say for sure. The ones who found them different have stated one was blank and fixed it by copying the string from one file to the other. If they are different, maybe setting them to a lower version will make it try to update again--or maybe setting them to the higher one will work. Make a note of both version numbers just in case though if you see different version numbers.

Both of the files say it was last updated the 24 of last month and no changes what should i do?
