Gear sets do not actually change when forced to replace main hand

Alright. I'm not crazy--I found the cause for this, which has been driving me insane for a day or two. My searches turned up nothing, so if this is a duplicate, I'm sorry. I tried.

Description:
Sometimes, when switching to a gear set with a missing main hand item, the game attempts to substitute another appropriate arm. When it does this, the replacement Main Hand item and other available pieces are equipped, but the gear set itself is not registered. Therefore, if you re-assign the gear to your current set (i.e. to assign your new weapon), you overwrite whatever set you were previously wearing.

Steps:

1. Equip any gearset.
2. Equip any gearset which is missing its main weapon. The game will prompt you to replace it, if possible.
3. Select "Yes".
4. You will now be equipped with that gear set and the replacement weapon, but the character screen will still display the original gear set (from step 1).
5. (Optional) Clicking the "refresh" icon to re-assign the gear will overwrite that original set, rather than the more recently-equipped set.

Just an update. The bug above is related to another. Whenever the bug in my above post happens, it seems to coincide with "The crosscut saw registered to this gear set cannot be equipped. Replace it with a crosscut saw?"
