    Allow Tells in Dungeons

The restriction for not being able to send tells when someone is in a dungeon is idiotic. Not that I play a large number of MMOs, but this has to be the first I've ever seen this horrible restriction.

If you want to block tells in dungeons so you can "concentrate," it should be optional, though your ability to concentrate in the first place comes under question if you need to do this in order to concentrate, but I digress.

The reasons I've heard in game so far for not allowing tells or whispers while in a dungeon are arbitrary and asinine. Anyone with half a brain knows how to regulate themselves as to when and when not to use tells in dungeon.

I can't speak for everyone, but for many of us, sending tells does not degrade our abilities to perform in a dungeon. Granted I am new to the game, I can at least infer that this restriction does no good for anyone.

I would like to be able to send /t just to ask other pt members why they are or are not doing something so I don't have to call them out in pt chat in case they simply don't know. For instance smns who do not use dots at all and just ruin spam. Sometimes because dots are not instant dmg some new players don't realize their potency vs that of ruin. I usually don't say something unless it is causing issues with dps but its nice to help other players out. Same goes for me, if I am missing a mechanic or if there is something I am not doing I don't realize a /t is much preferred and appreciated over being called out on it in pt, which can put some players on instant defensive due to embarrassment.

There's actually only two legitimate reasons for this.

#1) It's to make sure there's no sneaky communication between members during the run. To agree to kick someone out or something similar.

#2) Because "instanced" battles take place on an entirely diffirent server. Having the /tell system look for matching names on different servers to try and communicate with is troublesome, since duplicate names can and will exist.

Circumventing that could be done by making it look up only the server matching the server of the person sending the tells. Still would require a re-code of the system, and breaching the all important reason #1

    +1 to Surian.

I thought everyone knew that duties and such pull people together from different servers.
Which is the reason why your FC don't show up and the FC skills don't work in duties. Although you can still talk to you FC, it just wont show on your character.

Don't mind me, I'm just posting my opinions on the internet and watching how people react to them.

Granted that players are on different servers on a dungeon, SE can still encode the game to allow tells. FCs and linkshells can transmit data from across server. I can infer that something this trivial can be done by SE coders with little difficult if that. Or is that putting too much faith in their ability and skill?

The mere fact that characters from different servers can interact cross-server is testament that such things are readily possible. This problem is not in the realm of unattainable by any stretch of the imagination. We shouldn't allow lack of foresight and planning on the development team's side be a nuances we should live by.

They need to allow A LOT of things in dungeons. Being allowed to simply walk into one for example would be an amazing start. Being able to open something as simple as your free company window is another good idea, and tells, yeah just another on a long list.

Well, I seriously doubt everyone on every server uses all of their linkshells...you could always just invite them and say your piece...then kick them. Sure its more of a hassle, but isn't that why we have macros?
