Meh, two sides of the same coin isnt it? I see what your saying, but why I asked it that way has more to do with if Guard will match the new direction of battle through AA. As in AA and the way Guard currently works just does not seem to go together. Or as you said would make it a redundant spam ability. I like your idea #3, I could get on board with that.
