Maybe you should do dungeons when you wont need to AFK during them? Also FYI, the game auto kicks someone if they AFK/go offline for a certain amount of time.

Holy shit, if you're dry heaving in the bathroom or quit a game because you got kicked from a party once (from what sounds like a rather innocent mistake at worst), you have much more serious problems than getting kicked from a party in an online video game.
Dry vomiting and in tears that is very sad and i feel very bad for her but vomiting just because ppl are rude in game i don't think she will make it very far
I thought people learned to deal with negativity when confronted to it at school ...
I think kids are more cruel than people kicking you from a party.
Wow. Alright, so.. I'm a fairly sensitive person. I'm prone to taking criticism personally at times, and I can't just shrug comments off as easily as some people -- but to be kicked from a party once and end up sobbing, dry heaving, and quitting goes well beyond the realm of 'sensitive' and into the realm of 'maybe mmos aren't for you'.
It's incredibly unfortunate when a nice person becomes a target for a group of bullies, and that is thankfully what the report function is for.. but ultimately, I have seen the party kick do so much more good removing the abusive and generally terrible sorts from parties full of otherwise good people than the reverse.
I'm sure it does get abused, but I see it more for people that are a. trolls b. AFK for huge amounts of time with no reason/response c. constantly disconnecting and can't stay in the instance for more than a few minutes at a time. Also unless the group you're with is from the same FC/LS it's not like they even can conspire against you, since tells can't be sent in an instance.
Kind players are in no shortage in this game. Even with the last two story dungeons I ran a PF saying cutscenes were allowed and some players would be new. It ended up being the most enjoyable CM/Praetorium run I've experienced, simply because people do check PF and will help people that ask. And even then if you struggle, find a FC. That way if someone is being abusive you can at least bring it up to the master(s) of the group. Calm down and use the tools provided to find a good group to run with because they do work.

I can't stand when I'm running a dungeon and we have to keep stopping because someone's brat is crying or unplugging the mouse or trying to mash on the keyboard and making the person's char run into mobs. Don't join dungeons if you dont have your kids together or else I will kick you because it's hindering my play and according to SE that's harassment.or got up to change the kid's diaper?
On topic: Bro, get over it. Gesh.

Umm... yea... this is an MMO... and it's on the Internet. There's all kinds of people on here, some are rude and bullying... if you or your friend are getting so upset because of a party kick, please... don't play MMOs and best to stay off the Internet for that matter.
I'm really sorry for you and your friend, but have you been here before party kick feature was added?
Granted, if the party kick was never added, your friend would still play that CT run, but she would play with 3 more players instead of 7, because the rest would just AFK.
I think the issue goes much deeper and into game design. SE make the players repeat _mindlessly_ content in order to advance in the game. SE do so by design. That results in players just wanting to get it done with instead of doing it because it's fun.
I suppose CT is NOT fun to many players. Getting their weekly piece is, and that's why they're doing it.
Lastly, I think that if your friend would actually communicate with the party and tell them something like: "Hi, this is my first run, I hope nobody minds if I watch the cutscenes!" Nobody would have kick her. I think most people that did just assumed she's AFKing for a "carry" through CT. Which is a reasonable kick.
I happen to have played FW too and nightmare carnival was the worst place in the game: players there were no longer newbies, but neither high levels, because it is only worth doing before you hit 60 (out of 80 levels + 80 soul levels). Those wannabes thought themselves to be good and would flame other people: you look afk? kick; you not know what to do? kick. Reward was not so awesome, so if i saw people doing so - i would just leave. NC was easy, but if 1 left, 2 are idiots and 1 is new - they cannot continue it. Those people who mess in NC usually not make it in the later stages of the game (i haven't seen them anywhere else). You just had to pass this "wannabe" stage, the rest of the game was good, particularly people would not go with random team, so no vote kicks.
In FFXIV i got through the wannabes stage too. My ever first dungeons were a horrible experience: in my first dungeon as arcanist people kept yelling at me "mage lb", though i didn't know what both of it meant (ofc noone bothered answering my questions). Later i discovered that being wiped in sastasha at last boss 3 times is quite hard even if you have no healer in team, so that first team i had must have been very modestly skilled.
In the past two days i did several haukke manor runs as a marauder and a warrior.
During my marauder runs i had an issue holding threat from synced players, and half of them went toxic and started purposely not letting me tank the mob (bursting damage asap so i dont have time to build the threat) - ok, i let them tank instead (i have seen dps doing that even at titan hm). If i was new - i would think i am a horrible tanker, and if i talked in chat - they would probably kick me, thinking i am incapable of doing the role. I even joined the in-progress haukke - got last boss with dps who ignore adds and healer who heals with intervals - we finished it in 1 try, but their wannabe tanker surely has quit, thinking they hopeless (i joined at lv29 and i23 at that time lol).
Then i did haukke manor warrior runs: with defiance i was clearly op. I got a team with priest and blm who repeatedly tried to sleep mobs while i dpsed them with overpower (infuriate + main + berserk does nice damage), so i ended up doing most of the damage in that run (it went slow though). If i was not clearly overpowered - it would go very slow and other people may have become toxic and kick someone (probably me for not letting them sleep trash mobs).
Party kick clearly can be abused, but in my experience it only happens in "wannabe" stage of the game, passing it solves the issue.
Regarding story dungeons kicks - i suggest to go there as premade, so if people decide to kick - they will not have the majority. It's always 1-2 dps get toxic and start talking about fast run and kicking, clearly on purpose to threaten newbies.
