that changed when SE decided to follow the status quo and cater to the "modern" (lol, copying a certain special 8+ year old game is called "modern") mmo crowd
we did have some "bullies" before but after the floodgates opened, that welcomed all the douches from all over

That has less to do with catering to the modern mmo crowd and more the fact that more people played the game in the first.
Granted i didn't play before ARR but i seen it happening in sooo many other games and people keep saying stuff like this.
The % of assholes stays the same but because more people play, there are more of them aswell.
I take it you never played FFXI because bullying was rife there except not only was in personal but also parties bullying others over camps .. bird camp in ToAU anyone? .. MPKing, etc.
No FFXIV isn't new when it comes to providing opportunities for bullies and griefers in general.

you didn't play 1.0 FFXIV? because i did, it was the same as during the time i played FFXI, i'll quote the poster above you as what he said is what happened
i have to disagree with you here completely. in 1.0 the servers knew who their rude and abusive players were and avoided them. they did so because it was such a small percentage of players. on karnak there were only 2-3 people that were known rude and abusive and those people had major issues getting into any party. those people are no longer restrained to their own servers due to duty finder so they get to go and harass other people from other servers now since the people on their own sever will not play with them. then you bring over this "new" mmo gamer that wants everything now with zero effort and you have a total mess.
ARR was the floodgates, if you didn't understand what i said in my eariler post Kraggy

I'm sorry but I read this and instantly thought you were trolling, there is just no way this could happen, and the worst part is, if this is true, and you are getting this upset over A GAME, the part about you changing a diaper, implying you are in charge of small children, that fills me with fear.
I play for fun, if you don't like it don't play it.

i think you should be spending more time with a shrink and less time in a mmo. this seems like a much deeper issue of feeling not accepted than it does being upset over a party kick.
if you friend just goes afk then they are harassing other members and they have every right to kick them as the game itself even has a kick feature for being afk too long. yes, the kick feature does impact the person that's being kicked, but not being able to kick someone impacts the other 3-23 people running the content with them negatively. the kick feature is a positive thing for the majority of a party since it does require a majority vote.
yes, there are some rude players that are abusing the kick feature, but the vast majority only use it when needed as it was intended.

I think a lot of the people are missing the point
if it took me an hour to queue up then i get kicked from pt cause I went afk for RR i'd be pretty pissed
I don't DF much anymore, for whatever reason people in PF are slightly more human and you can forewarn them of your situation
I'm sure you can find a way to play this game with less stress and not affect your RL health

so you would rather hold up the rest of you party and negatively impact their game for being constantly afk? ok i gotcha. if you say brb and tell them what's going on no group i've been in kicks the member for it. it's the ones that go afk without saying anything that get kicked.I think a lot of the people are missing the point

duty finder is that way because that's where the known jerks from each server have to go to since the majority on their own servers will not play with them. there's a few on my own server i know i will leave any party they are in because i know of the issues that will come up with them. people on duty finder don't know until it's too late and the abuse starts. this is part of being able to police your own and part of the reason i refuse to do ct is because of duty finder.

If I were going to be constantly afk, I would let the PT know before hand if they were up for it.so you would rather hold up the rest of you party and negatively impact their game for being constantly afk? ok i gotcha. if you say brb and tell them what's going on no group i've been in kicks the member for it. it's the ones that go afk without saying anything that get kicked.
If i go afk one time for RR i don't expect to be kicked
In most of my experiences, people are pretty patient and wait a min or two for afkers to come back.
no I don't expect a pt whom I didn't forewarn to not kick me if i constantly go afk

but that's all i was saying. i understand going afk once and saying "hey gotta go to wc" or "brb daughter needs clean diaper". i've never seen anyone kicked for that nor would i vote along with the others to kick for that reason. If I were going to be constantly afk, I would let the PT know before hand if they were up for it.

i do agree with having the kick feature as i remember before the feature was added at how you would have tanks mostly queue up for the dungeon and afk at the entrance with no possible way to clear the dungeon as there was no tanks. there was many times my titan egi had to be the main tank in castrum for example due to that. also many times there were people that would join just to run in and grab multiple mobs to try and cause a party wipe over and over and there was nothing the rest of the party could do other than report them.
like i said, yes, some are abusing the feature, but the majority are doing things the correct way and using it as intended.
