    The Thaumaturge's New Class

Anyone remember Final Fantasy's use of environment and weather in previous installments? Classes like Geomancer comes to mind, but why stop with just the environment or the weather separately. I'd like to see a DPS that uses both together. For instance, say you're in the Sagolii Desert and there's a Heat Wave. Intense heat plus sand makes glass, right? So instead of your spam skill doing just a sand storm to a single enemy, perhaps it also inflicts bleeding due to the sand becoming shards of glass. In a river in Coerthas during a blizzard? Freeze your enemy in place and inflict the choke status, silencing them. Going up against Titan? Earth plus heat makes magma. Against Ifrit? Same thing. Garuda? Wind and earth makes a very brutal tornado. Anyways, that's my idea.

While that would be neat, the development team has strayed away from situational abilities like those. They even removed elemental damage and resistances (like being able to hit Ifrit with Fire) for the sake of simplifying magic. I'd love to see more fun and creative skill combos depending on what enemy you're against, what type of environment you're in, or even what type of gear you're wearing but that just doesn't seem to be the way the developers are taking this game.

I'm interested to see what new Jobs they choose to implement, and how they actually implement them ha, sometimes I try to picture them adding whatever new job, but not really seeing how it would fit in to fill a role that isn't already covered, essentially what skill set they would have that would allow them to be as viable as the current jobs yet different enough to be unique.

People bring up a lot of jobs from FFXI, but with the differences in combat, faster pacing, all about maxing DPS while dodging mechanics, I just don't see a lot of the different jobs from XI really having a distinct or interesting role, they'd just have to be dumbed down to a basic skill set and theyd be the same as the existing jobs, just with different armor and animations.

I know fire2=fira and fire3=firaga but I hoping they do something creative and make a fira 1, 2, 3 as they make it possible for us to go pass level 50. I do hope the level cap one day is increased and thats why i mention such things.

I, for one, am fully expecting that if this game DOESN'T go under for some odd reason, they will increase our levels eventually. Every MMO I have played so far takes a bit of time, but they begin slowly increasing levels in segments that make sense and don't trivialize everything instantly. Gotta crawl before you walk, and 14 feels as if its between those 2 phases right now.

Personally, I almost don't think SE can add second jobs to the current classes, seeing as they pigeonholed themselves way to much when it came to class/job roles and skills.
Take Conjurer for example, in order to turn it into a DPS, they would first need: a system for them to replenish their MP (like Thaumaturge and Arcanists do), way better offensive attacks then just Stone/Stone II, Aero II, and Aero (Fluid Aura too, I guess, even though a ranged DPS shouldn't be getting that close) and something that would stop people from slapping on Cleric Stance and healing. That Job Stone would have to have some crazy kind of mechanic to it.

Well, like SMN and SCH with their summon spells doing other things, you could probably have the job stone change Cure, II and III into Water, II and III for a dps class.

Well to turn Con into a dps class, it can be done. Currently they have Stone and Aero as their dps spells, those are considered Geomancer spells, now Stone has a potency of 140, fire has a potency of 150 as does blizzard. Fire becomes stronger thanks to Astral Fire, a buff, so how can they make Stone a viable dps option.. doing the same thing, an ability that will activate increaseing the next earth type damage or maybe even when Stone crits, you can cast a different more powerful spell, like say Quake?.. they don't need to have it increase the mp usage like a THM does.

Aero has a potency of 50, thunder 35? so already this spell is stronger.

Fluid aura is a water spell, potency of 140, blizzard 150 and gives you a mp refill buff and lowers the mp costs of spells. So maybe Fluid aura could do the same thing, again through a trait/buff, it can remove the pushback effect and cause maybe a buff that refills 15% mana over 8 seconds?

Also by equipping the Geomancer soul crystal, they get new spells, Quake, Tornado, Flood, all AOE attacks and then give them something else, idk.. It can be done. And since they will be concentrating on INT instead of WIS, the healing spells will be just like Summoner, it's their but not really useful during a dungeon/raid fight, but can be used in emergencys.

All the classes things can be done to them, it's just you need to work by the mechanics of the game design. You can't make Archer become a melee class, it's a range class, so Bard and something (which is why people say Ranger), you can't make Lancer become a Dark Knight because of the weapon design, Lancer and Dragoon use spears, but you can make a Lancer into a tank by making Hoplite? or just go simple and say Knight, yeah maybe previous Final Fantasys Knights were sword and shield, but you can change that and lore wise why not?

It's possible, just need to stay in the design of the game
