    Suggestion - add idle animations

I finally figured out what has been bothering me when I look around town and see players standing around robotically - there are no idle animations! Sure, our characters stand still and breathe rhythmically, but... they just stand there.

One of the many reasons I disliked SWTOR was because characters just stood there. In Guild Wars 2 when idle, my engineer would pull out his pistols and start twirling them around, and in WoW my elf would randomly peer about. Even a fast-paced action game like Warframe eventually added idle animations because no one liked our crazy ninjas just standing still. These random animations just made the characters feel more personable and well, animated.

Obviously designing idles would be a lot of work, but I think they would add a lot of life and flavor to our characters (moreso than a race-unique /doze animation you can only use inside of housing...). Simple un-dramatic little things like looking around, stretching a shoulder, dusting off their shirts, scratching their butts/tail whatever.

Of course gameplay improvements are more important, but please consider adding these down the line.

Thankfully it has already been considered and is being added for 2.2, as it's bothered people since 1.23 and was already up for consideration even back then (but since fallen silent) until patch 2.16 where they didn't announce it, but sneakily added in the hint through the patch notes.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out!

Now the question is, what does it mean :<

We're not 100% sure. The assumption would be idle animations of looking around, stretching, ass-scratching, sighing, farting, sneezing.

It could be anything really, but hopefully it breaks the current robotic/doll faced look that characters currently have when standing around.

A lot of 2.2's miscellaneous items are being demoed or explained in the upcoming live letter, so I'm sure we'll hear about this (as its a rather major addition if you think about it)

I know they're planning to add idle animations for sitting, so they might be extending that to idle standing animations as well. (I certainly hope so)

We'd like to make it so you might start off by sitting in a nice straight posture, but then eventually break posture and slouch, and the way this occurs would be different for each race.

I hope each race, each gender and maybe also each tribe get their own idle animation.

Like Miqo'te who start to lick the hands.

Yeah, can't wait. I am guessing that the idle animations will be similar to the poses that guards have in a city

I just hope it's nothing with too much sound...

Would be rather disturbing if you stand in Wineport or near a Market Board and hundred people around you /whistle...

I always wanted to be able to just pick a different standing animation. Like when we're doing story quests in the cut scenes our characters occasionally cross their arms or put a hand on their hip or something. Being able to pick one of those would be nice, like the guards in the cities and outposts.
