The game lacks comical content

I've been thinking about it a lot. Why is it that on most FF we had those awesome mini character development side stories that are just.. unforgettable? The closest we have here is Shantotto's FATE event, which is amazing in my opinion. But because of how all the graphics are so pretty and amazing, it doesn't allow for a "very" comical situation.


When I say comical, I remember stuff like Cloud in the bathhouse with muscle men, Zell with the hotdog, Cid and the dwarves jumping around with a theme song (ff4).. Zidane in almost all situations. Now, maybe it's just me and I know some people might just say the game's artstyle isn't for me, but I was thinking how amazing it'd be if the Gold Saucer that is to come, features a slightly different artstyle? More cartoon-y, more comical. Wouldn't that be awesome? Sort of Mog Hero X in chocobo's dungeon Wii kind of theme. All those minigames, to break off from the very heavy atmosphere of the game. The greatest example I can bring up probably is the NDS version of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Tales. I really liked all the minigames there.

You're absolutely right! I forgot to mention Hildibrand. It's also one of the most awesome comical stuff in game. Basically, what I'm saying is I want more.. probably something tied to the actual character development? Unfortunately, a lot of the cutscenes (apart from Hildi's) feel so stiff. Look at Cid, his movements are almost like a robot.. Look at Alphinaud, Nanamo.. It feels like the amount of expressions that the characters can make are pretty clunky and robotic. Strangely enough, games like ff4 could portray those emotions better albeit having very weak graphics..

Gilgamesh is coming soon. I hope he'll have a bigger role in the game too though. I'd like to see him break the 4th wall again.

I'm hoping Gilgamesh is comic relief, threatening, but comic relief. I guess chicken Enkidu might be a sign he's a bit comic relief.

To be fair, there are a lot of NPCs with funny dialogue, like the sleeping male lalafell in Drybone dream-talking "Take me, Raubahn... I am your sultana..." And I guess the Godbert quests in Bronze Lake were kind of amusing, even though the Hildibrand quest copied the oiling gimmick.

There's a lot of humor when you walk near npcs that have pop up text bubbles which most people miss out on because they don't care about exploring.
