    My thoughts on Leviathan fight.

These are a few things that I think will be done for the fight, specifically how a possible SMN Egi would be done.

    1. It won't be something that you get whether you beat him on EM or HM, it will be a specific drop after the fight.
Whether it would be from the HM or EM version I can't say, but I don't see it being something you instantly unlock after you beat him. As a SMN if it drops, you can roll Need on what I think will be a sort of "Elemental" Spirit Pact item. Everyone else would be able to Greed on it, but if there's a SMN and they Need, they automatically get it.

This will make him a little harder to get a hold of and will ensure that not every player with a SMN Job will instantly have him as soon as the fight comes out, especially considering what Role the Egi would play and how it would be balanced. I don't believe we will have access to him like that on day one though, a month or two down the line though for sure.

    2. The fight will be a little similar to Garuda's fights.
This is all conjecture on my part, but I see it as a fight that will have an "Eye of the Storm" setting. The team and players will be based inside of a whirlpool, and Leviathan will be mostly outside of the dry area to make hit and runs and occasional attacks from the water, sometimes leaving it and going into the dry area to attack directly. Maintaining enmity on the Tanks or otherwise during this section. Akin to the fly-by attacks that Isgebind would do in the Stone Sigil.
If information contrary to this has already been put forth, go ahead and ignore this section in it's entirety.

    Any thoughts?

There will not be a Leviathan egi due to the simple fact that other classes will want new skills as well.

Q: Will we be able to obtain a new egi after defeating Leviathan?
A: If we were to add a new action for summoners, we would have to do the same for all jobs. Considering that new actions will be added when the level cap is raised, Leviathan cannot be added as a new egi in patch 2.2. However, we've already started work on our first expansion, and we will increase the level cap when it is released. Summoners will have something to look forward to then—as for whether or not that will include Leviathan, you’ll just have to wait and see.

By the time they add it, Leviathan will be an easy fight due to new gear/levels/abilities.

Indeed it be unfair one class gets a new skill or move but the others don't? maybe after the cap hits 60 there will be some sort of quest for it

I've actually talked about that myself before, this is an excerpt from it:
Main point there, is that there could be a possible way to break Lore in XIV and improve the Egis. Then again, SE would have to do something that the fan-base wouldn't be outraged over, and balance issues need to be heavily considered then as well, especially when we will most likely get Leviathan in some shape or another a month or few months from now, maybe not right at the release of 2.2, but sometime before August I'd warrant. You then have to ask, what do the other classes get from this? What do they get out of beating Leviathan if it comes to that?

XI is still giving us options to new Avatars, a certain feline is becoming available this March, then you had the 6 base summons and Carbuncle, Fenrir, Odin and Alexander in Treasures of Aht Uhrgan, and possibly even more down the road. How is XIV's Egis going to compete with the sheer amount of options that we had and still do have in XI? And how could they balance it out if we have access to 5+ different summons? I'm basing a lot on how XI was developed and programmed, but this points out a significant issue to me personally. If XI had access to 12(forgot Diabolos) summons in one shape or another, how could that be incorporated properly into XIV without breaking anything? And if SMN gets so many additions, what will be given to other classes to make them more appealing themselves? The fact of the matter is that SMN has an abundance of creatures to call forth from the wellspring that is Final Fantasy, what makes other classes more interesting if you have such great diversity added?
I still don't see how it would mean that SMNs just don't get anything all-together just because there wouldn't be something strictly for other classes. There have been several times when one class has gotten access to something that no other class could, why is it now "one for all or nothing at all?"

Because they changed their mind, now they want to have balanced jobs.
But maybe they could make Leviathan-egi avaiable but have the same spells as garuda's ( or Ifrit or Titan ) so that they don't get new spells but still have their primal.

Garuda egi will still be the best.

As far as how the fight goes,

    Stack on Whirlpools.
Keep tanks topped off on Tidal Wave.
Free players that are trapped in water bubbles.

I think you are forgetting how the other Egi's were done. Leviathan normal will likely be part of the story quest line. After completing that, and being a higher level (like level55), your trainer will have a quest unlock. In the quest, as in all the other Egi quests, you will go summon and defeat a manifestation of that primal. After doing so, you have proved your worth to the Egi and it will fight for you.

The other 3 were done that way. Why would they change it? I'm sure there will be some story surrounding why you would want to summon a new Egi once you have leveled up past 50.

Thinking they would do something other than that is kind of just wishful thinking. All of the evidence on how the other Egi quests have gone would indicate how future ones would be. I won't say it's not a neat idea, because it is a neat idea to do it your way. Continue to bring up neat ideas. I'm just saying that, saying it "should" or "will be" this way isn't facing how it has already been going.

Let smn have its egi, they can have their fun. I still won't play smn till one of my last jobs to lvl. I dont think Most people don't care as long as all classes they eventually get somthing nice. (within a respectable time frame ofcourse)

It's been stated many times by Yoshi and the Dev team: no new egis till level cap raise/expansion.
