She said atomos was dead, so they wouldn't be in combat anymore for that particular group. Atomos fight doesn't put you in combat with the targets for the other two groups.
obviously they need to re-design how Pheonix Down works..
How? They managed it in every FF game including XI just fine lol. I guess based on how Yoshi P feels, it would negate the use of White Mage and Scholar if other jobs can raise people in battle, much like he stated it would negate the use of bringing any other class if BLM had a proper elemental wheel and monsters actual weaknesses.
(Was never a problem raising people in battles in 1.x with Company Issued Tonics...)
Pretty much all healing items are next to useless unless you need an OHSHI button on a non-healing character, even then the healing potency of the items is a joke. They are only decent before you get your job class, so after you hit 30, they are all pretty much garbage. The current cool down makes them horrible to use while a low level unless you use them while partied up and only in between spurts of not being healed.
My Rank 3 Chocobo does better healing than the healing items.
There are actually four you can get at the present time, all quested naturally. Until the fourth one was added, you could have one in your inventory, while having two more on a retainer, but when the Hildibrand quests were added (which reward a fourth on for the first quest), that was no longer possible. I agree they're just a gimmick really and need to either have the 'unique/untradable' effect removed, thus allowing them to be stacked, or else make it so they give a reraise effect if used on yourself (while keeping them as unique/untradable items), as at the moment, there is little need for them (if you need to raise someone crossclassing the Raise spell is better).
Die from falling damage, no raise allowed. The system already knows how you die. Make that a condition on the raise effect. I think it's a horrible idea to limit something just because of a small handful of instances that can easily be avoided by a simple system check and a description on the item.
"Item will cast raise on yourself after being defeated in battle. (Except if death is caused by fall)."
So, the only instances it wouldn't work is: Knocked off by Deamon Wall, Knocked off by Titan, Coil Turn 3 the weird times you use the jump platforms and die on landing. And umm...I think that's the only instances where the exception would apply? Oh, I guess if you have agro and fall from great heights. Then again if you let that happen, it's your own fault.
The fact the item has a limited way of getting it makes it even better since it's not something that can just be simply made or farmed to death. As it stands now, only being able to use it outside of battle is pretty damn worthless, especially since either a healer will be near by or in your party, you don't have to return to an entry spot to do content (yay instant warp with duty finder) except for Coil entry, so teleporting back to your home point really isn't a penalty.
It seems to me that the Pheonix down should be an in-combat res item that can be used by everyone. Then, the "you can only have one" restriction would make sense. That would allow each player in an instance run a one shot chance to revive a teammate. That would be a lot nicer than requiring the healers or a SMN to do all of the reviving during combat.
