    Because there's still hope that you can beat the mini boss/boss depending on hp. I've done it a few times as a whm.

    I can say that once or twice I've been so wrapped up in doing as much damage as I could that I completely didn't even notice that the rest of the party was dead. Also, I've had times where it was just me and a healer left and I was TRYING to die but the healer wasn't in an obliging mood. Other times, I'm the last one standing and doing my best to die, but it's not fast enough for some impatient jerks that feel the need to tell me to die already as if they can't see that that is what I'm trying to do. etc etc etc.

    I watched my wife and a PLD take down Titan HM from 10% to dead (PLD died right towards the end). She was hanging on a thread of HP and finished him off, it was so ridiculous I would call BS if I wasn't watching it happen on her screen. I've personally helped salvage many a fight gone bad, if I think we might be able to squeak out a win I'll be damn sure I try for it. Anyone else would as well if they were not watching from the floor.
