    What we need in maps!

Remember in FFXI it allowed you to make 4-8ish "notes" per map?

Is there any plans to implement something like that at all in 14?

In any case my suggestion is that they are put in at some time (after core changes are done of course) and maybe they could be implemented something like this:

5 different color markers you are able to use, so that you are able to color code your map which would be useful for gatherers whom mine and log and still allow you to have some colors for quest NPCs, hidden zone in's etc.

Perhaps this can be saved client side so that we may be able to use as many nodes as we want AND can share our node arrangements with other players by copying our particular area's data file and letting them paste it into their folder. I remember they wanted to allow us to use mods at some point (unless this is a Tanaka thing that got cut) but until/if that happens copying a client data file would work.

Maybe this would even help people leave uldah if they could essentially borrow maps from people that are pre-marked to go gather or explore!

Given that the interface is heavily serverside I really wonder if it's even possible because in FFXI if you reinstall without backing up settings notice how you lose all of that stuff, because it's a client side feature, the server would have to continually load up everyone's map markers.

So it would be a nice return because I have my doubts xD

I loved that feature as well. Hopefully they try to bring it to 14.

They have mentioned they want to bring more of the interface to the client, if this happens then it would be a really good addition, i would never have coped in sky without my markers lol.

I think it would be a possible addition even if the interface stays serverside.

Of course it shouldnt be top priority just yet, but sometime would be nice

Whilst we're on the subject of the maps it would be nice to actually be able to read what things say.

I'd like my map to be torn in pieces and scattered throughout the world so that I could do map quests.
Map is too valuable treat to just give to everybody for free like that. I remember my ongoing quest to get all maps in XI...

still on that epic quest btw!

LOL I agree. I had to print out a cheat sheet I found online with all the letters in english. Whatever the hell language its currently in is a little annoying to try to figure out.

I'm a bit late to the conversation, but regardless I see several of you would like translations of the maps. During open beta last year, and for my now defunct Linkshell I made massive maps of every region and city with complete Eorzean>English translations.

Due to the state XIV has been in, I had lost interest in updating them with the latest info, but time will tell by summer's end if that should change. XIV has become an interest again...

Realy nice work! I love stuff like this ;D

One thing I would like is to be able to explore the maps by myself, and maybe have to buy different maps for different areas. Either through quests or buying/exploring.
I want a little mystery in the game.

I remember when I started playing and opened up the map. I was dissapoint ;( everything was already there.
