    Strategy with the fairy

    Hello friends

I'm new here and I think certainly someone must have said something already on the strategy of using the fairy. So I'm sorry if I'm being redundant, but this strategic issue for the use of Fairy is really intriguing me.

How do you use it? "Automatic" or "Manual"? Please could someone advise me on the best strategy? I think one of the "failures" of the scholar is the absence of a good AOE heal. So the idea of using the fairy to minimize this problem is undoubtedly interesting.

    Thank you!

    1) Have Eos ALYWAS on obey
    2) A good SCH can easily let a manually controlled Eos (basically, key bind or place Embrace icon on your hotbar) heal the tank for a whole dungeon except bosses (throwing occasionaly Lustrates if the situation gets too risky)
    3) "Place" so she won't move away and stop casting (some fights, like Titan exe, can be a bit tricky regarding that)
    4) Rouse + Fey Illumination + Whispering Dawn + Succor is a good combo if you need to Aoe Heal the pt (But generally you'll always have a WHM with you supporting people with Medica II and/or Cure III)

There are 3 things fairy can do.
    1. Auto heal people you missed, but it is a rather bad thing as does not let you use embrace (macro physic + embrace) when needed. I thought about putting fairy in passive status so she won't auto embrace.
    2. Rouse + whispering dawn (i macroed them) - only strong aoe heal sch has, but cooldown is very long, so timing it requires practice.
    3. Fey illumination - tanker receives 20% more healing, it can easily change the outcome of otherwise lost battle with adloquium criticals.
So if i see EOS on auto - i know it's a new scholar who haven't done WP fast runs with i55 paladin.

    Ehm...noob question.
Is Eos in steady supposed to cast nothing (not even embrace right)? (Asking because I noticed it does cast it in steady, so I was wondering a way to stop all Eos' casts)

Eos will still cast Embrace automatically in Obey and Steady.

I like to macro, I feel like it separates me from a lot of other sch's I've met, don't get me wrong, I've met sch that micro manage the fairy themselves who are just as good as me, but that takes really quick reflexes and I'm lazy, been there done that when we COULDN'T macro pet abilities ; ; .

So every time you Adloquium, macro Eos to cure

    /ac "Adloquium"
    /pac "Embrace"

    really easy

Every time you physick, have her embrace.

I actually don't need this macro a lot (meaning 90% of content), but it does help in hard hitting content, which honestly everything from Titan and beyond is pretty hard hitting. It just means that your cures + Eos cures put you more on par with a Whm. The embrace macro will also work on Selene.

Macro rouse to something you use a lot if you find that you don't normally think of using rouse. This helped me and actually got me into the habit of using rouse a lot more. Some people like to rouse before a fey covenant or whispering dawn. Fey illumination in there too, I also like to Fey illumination during fights I know the tank is about to tank heavy dmg like in T4 from dreadnoughts, suddenly 2k of the pld hp could be gone, fey illumination is a buff that's going around to all healers, you, whm and your fairy, so you will all be healing for more, and crit more, yeah utilize that crit hit! If whm is a pre battle buffer, start thinking of Eos as a during battle buffer, so save fey convenant for times you now dmg is incoming and bad, or on an aoe party scale. But if the content is easy, feel free to use whatever, whenever. Just if content is hard, the more you think about WHEN to use your fairies abilities, the EASIER you can make the content.

For the macro you have to be in obey, no fairy should ever not be in obey, and unless the content is so laughingly easy, nothing annoys me more than a fairy that just blows all her spells in the first 30 secs.

I also like to macro an embrace on my Leeches, reasoning is , some mages first reaction to dot is to "esuna/leech", some is to heal, instead I just leech it and have my fairy heal and get both. So i'm taking away the dot, and healing up some dmg at the same time. I'm used to playing with a whm, who is used to playing with me and my fairy though, so its also nice to ensure over healing isn't happening.

In some fights it is better to place a fairy, with macros I've found 90% of fights I do not need to place it, but it is useful in a lot fights, like Caduceus in t1, move fairy close to tank, so if you have to move around to different platforms, its always by the tank. This used to be more useful when fairies prioritized moving instead of casting, but they changed it, so now place when you know you will not be close enough for your fairy to heal. Or sometimes you can use it to pick up healing of dps, while you focus more on tank. This is all stuff we just learned by doing content, suddenly you're like "you know what, lemme try moving fairy here" and the fight gets better. So you'll pick it up.

If you find that you are bored healing (no damage is really being taken to justify having two healers), pull out Selene, haste the party, add more dps to it, cleric stance even, this is what I do in CT.

Lustrate is an "oh S*#$" move, I barely find myself using it once I become accustomed to a fight, but when I'm new to a fight, and I'm not sure when heavy dmg is coming it was super useful, so do not be afraid to use it as first, you'll eventually learn the fights and learn that you don't need it as much as you thought, and aetherflow will just become a way to get mp back, as a sch, if you are ooming, you are probably wasting mp, and not practicing proper mp management. There are sometimes a parties been bad enough to make me oom too, so its not always your fault, but really a sch should never have NO MP, I finish most fights with almost full and WHM griping about it, cause they saw how I did just as much as they did, but yet, for some reason they didn't give whm some sort of mp ability. I usually find when I learn to heal a fight its goes, first off having to use lustrate cause I don't know it, 2nd using sacred soil cause Idk i'm bored and still can decrease dmg taken, 3rd step, total disillusionment with the content...only using adloquium and physick, truly realizing this was easy haha, 4th step, cleric stance, eff you whm YOU CAN SOLO HEAL! haha kind of joking with that last one, I have fun with my whm's in my fc.

I put this all in here, not necessarily for OP but just in case some new sch is walking into this thread. I know the question was specifically on fairy management but I know there are new sch floating around due to steam release and soon to be ps4 so good luck to you guys ^^

eos is obeyed, placed and macro'ed.
    macro succor + fey illumination
a macro for rouse + whispering dawn
all my heals AND nukes do /pet ac "Embrace" <tt> or <t> so I can dps or combo heal the tank.
I have 2 separate button for physick and embrace in the event I need to heal 2 people at the same time.

    Selene is on auto.

    Question for you Selene users:

When she's on Auto, does she cast Fey Light after Fey Glow has worn off (and vice versa), or does she just cast each one as soon as they're off cooldown?
