    The problem with the ilvl being so low is the fact that now people in crappy gear can fully skip the content we all had to work on to develop our characters, and end up skipping the better part of the game. If SE wants any sort of longevity to their content, and want people to stick around, they need to stagger the ilvl requirements so that people can PROGRESS.If the ilvl req is indeed similar to that of PS and drops i90+ valued tomes/gear then SE is allowing people to basically skip half of the supposed ENDGAME 4 man dungeons.This is a joke imo. If they want to allow everyone to just gear up in three-four weeks by handing out free tomes, why not just give an allowance to each player and not require them to actually do any content.

    Instead, it should be that people need to progress to at LEAST i80 to do the new four mans... this will create at least a semblance of a progression system. Im appalled that SE hasn't realized that by handing out free near-endgame gear they are effectively creating a game where people play for the 3-4 weeks required to get to endgame and then quit because there is nothing to progress on. As it is right now, this is already basically the case when they remove caps and such on gear. Its funny to me that they decided to put in a "buff" into the first 5 turns of coil to help people "progress" through the content. I think the whole thing is silly. People should be required to work to move up in ilvl - ie. if you are a new 50, you should be progressing the same way we all did, especially with things like the duty finder now in place giving "free" tomes.

    Maybe its just me, but its getting a little bit ridiculous, and I feel like SE is shooting themselves in the foot with handing out basically free upgrades to everyone. I could understand if it was for an expansion and it came with an increase in level cap, but during regular patches... cmon.

    Really? A fresh level 50 is not gonna be ilevel 55 no matter how you twist and turn it, unless he/she buys better crafted gear or is given better gear, and if that's the case, he/she can reach i70 without ever entering one of those dungeons...
    Now if we take a fresh 50 that doesn't have gil as an example. He/She/It will have to do CM, Prae, WP, AK, HM HM, CBM HM, PS and/or CT in order to reach i55 and be able to enter these new dungeons.
    If the player isn't a complete moron, he/she/it will quickly realize that it's better to gear up even more for the harder dungeons.

    As for the argument that "we had to go the hard way so they should have to go the hard way too"... I suggest you start walking everywhere you go, start farming or hunting for everything you eat, make your own clothes, etc. because that's what our ancestors had to do. They had to go the hard way so we should too, right?

    This content requires i55 and will drop the new tomes (which means gear over i90), but Ifrit Extreme requires i70 and (probably) will not drop them.

    Yeah but the lower item level requirement just kind of implies that it's tuned for lower levels than extreme primals, but it offers better rewards, which is kind of backwards. It could be harder than extremes, but then why let people in such poor gear queue for it?

    The extrêmes were never meant to be done by everyone in the first place. "Only the best players will be able to defeat them". These were the words from the live leteers pre-2.1

    Thus, their purpose is void in the first place, pure vanity (with different stats so some became BiS pre-T5). On the other hand, new dungeons are content everyone is expected to clear at some point. Why keeping everyone out of them with ridiculous iL that aren't needed in the first place ?

    Oh and btw, PS is and was doable in minimum iL or not so higher. What made and still makes people fail hard at it is because they are complete idiots who can't learn that zerging and no caring of mechanics is the easiest and quickest way to die.

    Ilvl seems fair to me. In these grind dungeons it's usually player skill which makes the difference between a good/bad party.

    As mentioned before PS is 49, but gives you points for i90 gear so it's hardly anything different, if you want there to be less of a difference between dungeon difficulty and rewards that ship has already sailed with 2.0.

    But I have always thought it's stupid such easy content has top tier rewards, it has always skipped everything in between and that's scandalous.

    Yes PS is 49 and much harder than that ilvl would indicate but it also only drops i60 gear. ilvl 55 would indicate the new dungeons dropping something like ilvl 70.
