    Becoming a Dragoon

So i started playing a few days ago and i recently found out that to become a Dragoon you need to have a lvl 15 MRD and a lvl 30 lancer. im currently lvl 23 on my Lancer so i figured that i would lvl up a MRD to lvl 15.. so i made a new character, got it to lvl 15 as MRD and now after looking around for a while it seems like i did it wrong. Do i have to change class on my Lancer to MRD and lvl it to 15 before switching back to Lancer and then i can become a Dragoon? i didnt even have any idea you were able to switch class like that all of a sudden and it truly sucks if im going to have to lvl MRD to lvl 15 again, i hate this class and it was annoying to lvl it to 15 on another character.

i hope you understand what im trying to say.

You have to level it on the same character. You just need to go to the Marauder's guild in Limsa Lominsa and pick up the quest from the guild receptionist. It shouldn't take too long if you do your hunting log but that's unfortunate that you didn't realize and leveled another character...

Yes. Unfortunately an important mechanic of the game is the ability to change classes on the fly. Any class that requires a second class to be leveled has to be done on the same character.

Leveling other classes does have tangible benefits though, notably in the form of cross-class skills. This basically means you can use abilities you've learned from pugilist, marauder, conjurer, or anything else and apply them to lancer. Be aware only some skills can be used by certain classes and not all skill combinations are optimal.

Fortunately, you do get a 50% bonus on all lower-leveled combat classes, which should make your time spent as a marauder shorter.

    Question related to this:

My level 20 Lancer quest is bugged (and I have a thread for it here) and I am not able to complete it. Instead of trying to do it over and over and hope that maybe one time it will work, I just moved on with the main story. Do I actually need to finish that quest in order to become a Dragoon, or is getting a job independent of the main class quests?

I will go back to it eventually, but I'm pretty bummed I couldn't do it :/

It's not bugged, I just recently did it the other day. I had the EXACT same problem, I put down the boar tusks and I waited. . .and waited. . .and waited. I looked online and people said you have to click the boar tusks.

I checked and checked and I could not interact with the boar tusks and thought I was either crazy or this quest is bugged.

Then it happened. I moused over the magic, ridiculously small click box, for the boar tusks. It's there, it's just stupidly small. If I'm not mistaken I had to mouse over the actual text that said "Bloody Boar Tusks" or whatever it's called. I made a post here about it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-way-too-small

Yes, you need to do all the class quests up to and including level 30 before the relevant starting job quest becomes available.

I've also noticed several way-too-small click boxes in the game, so when I find something I should be able to click on and can't I've made it a habit of waving the cursor all around the object until I see the Hand of Interaction.

I just always go for the text. Seems a lot more reliable.
