Can you turn off the info that pops up when you hover over an icon?

When I'm spamming Fire as a BLM the info box that pops up saying what the attack does, duration time and stuff, blocks the other attacks and if I've got a free turn on one of them (with the dotted line border, can't remember the name for it) then I can sometimes miss it because it's been covered up

I understand I can just move my icons but I've finally perfected my rotation now and they're all in order.

There's an option in the config somewhere to lock item/action help in place instead of having it floating where the cursor is. Can't remember where or what it's called. But you can lock the tooltips with that, and move them somewhere out of the way with /hudlayout.

That's assuming you can't just turn it off entirely. I think you can, either with an option in the config, or by turning the hud element off in /hudlayout. I'll try to remember to try this stuff out tonight and come back with less vague instructions.

I was looking all around the settings didn't think it would be in the HUD layout

The action box no matter where I move it it still pops up over the icons, but when I switch it off it doesn't pop up at all, yay!

There's an option to have the tooltip pop up at mouse location, or a specific spot which defaults to the bottom right corner. You can also set the delay to a long time, so it doesn't pop up the second you mouse over stuff. Or as you found, turn it off entirely.

Character Configuration > UI Settings (2nd red box from the top)

Display Item Help - turn the tooltip for items on/off completely; can also hide it in /hudlayout, does the same thing
Display Action Help - same except for actions
Position > Next to Cursor/Fixed/Fixed (Reversed) - Follows the mouse cursor/Stays in the same spot/Stays in the same spot but swaps to the other half of the screen when you cross the center left or right
