you do it wrong, it seems
Test it with:
/targetnpc
It target the nearest NPC (that should be the fruit near you)
Or untarget your current target, go to the fruit and press the cross button

Just set your filter, cycle through fruits, BAM, CURED.
PC+Xbox360 controller. Rotating your camera does wonders. I rotate so that I only see the fruit I want to grab. The only time I have had trouble targeting was when invisible walls caused me to zoom in all the way.
I don't know. Why do people troll Duty Finder, hiding meteors behind towers in KB and purposely dragging Vassagos into other Alliances? Why do people look for forum posts so they can troll?Oh goodness...
It's not like that at all. I told him I'm on PS3 and I have zero issues with targeting non of the tanks I've ran with on their PS3's do. They all tank right by the fruit when the stacks hit 2/3 they hit the fruit that's in front of them. I don't understand why people have such a hard time believing others. Why the hell would I lie about this?
What I do know is that I can find hundreds of posts on Google Search about the PS3 version having targeting issues, and no one can deny all these posts exist. There's no conspiracy amongsts us all to invent a problem that doesn't exist.
It's a problem impacting many players. It needs fixing. Changing the fight so you can walk into a fruit rather than need to select it will put the fight in line with all other encounters in the game which is about positioning, and not about fighting with the crappy PS3 targeting system.
Just because something doesn't personally impact you does not mean it needs no changing.

You don't select anything that isn't in your view, so turn your camera around and with the right target settings, you only have to press left or right once to get the fruit. I seriously don't understand how it's possible to rage over this. (And yes, I've tanked AV quite a few times.)
You eventually get used to the awfulness of the targeting system and learn how to work around, pretty much like with all the faults and shortcomings the game has, doesn't stop the faults from being there. Never had trouble with AV either but I can understand what you mean too, really it's more hassle than it should be, though it is more a targeting issue than an issue with AV itself.
Ah, but you ought to read what I posted (admittedly, I edited my original a minute after posting it, but that's neither here nor there). Your targeting is not based on where your camera is pointing--that's simply what you CAN select--but is instead based on the direction your character is physically facing.
Even with filters and everything set properly, you must be facing your target in order to select it. That's where a lot of the problems with this comes in to play, but frankly the fruits aren't nearly cluttered enough to cause a great problem. If you haven't given that a shot, then try that. If you still have problems, well, I'unno what to tell you. I'm not experiencing problems on the level you are, so I can't be anymore help.
I was more directing my 'non-supportive' label towards the people who said he didn't know how to play, not necessarily to blanket-label everyone.Oh goodness...

Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.
You were warned.
Cash shop in, TrystWildkey out.
Only time controller targeting is ever a problem is when you want to target something else during Titan Ex multi bombs everything else u can hold the r2 and keep hittIng r1
I'm not asking for help on how to deal with the crappy targeting. As the design stands, I'll never run it ever again.Ah, but you ought to read what I posted (admittedly, I edited my original a minute after posting it, but that's neither here nor there). If you agree the targeting is crappy, why not support changing the encounter so the crappy targeting no longer causes people distress?
