thats changed recently PS4's newest update allows creators to utilise 7 of the 8 GB's of ram meaning now the ps4 suddenly can use 2 more gigs for more details. the last gig is used for the os but even then that only uses half of the gig in application memoryIt would depend, does the PS4 have enough expendable memory? It shares the same RAM between everything and else, and the GPU as there is no dedicated VRAM, and that may cause issues. IIRC, the PS4 operating system uses 3GB of RAM, which leaves 5GB for the game, in theory it should be able to support might higher resolution textures (game uses 1.5GB at most from my tests), but I'm no expert. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could weigh in?
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun

This should still be an option. Seriously, let's see some of those 1.0 textures!! I miss the hair quality most of all..

I Honestly play with parallax disabled, it looks horrible on stone textures and terrain. Everything gets weirded our thanks to those 512 textures.
Really, i know SE doesn`t want to give "a diferent experience" between their platforms, but they already do, we PC users already can use filters like reshade to pretty out the colors and sharpness of the game, PC users also are the only ables to get truly maxed out settings and real 60 fps. PS4 quality is far superior to the PS3 which is a BIG quality and experience diferente.
Also, no reason to understimate PS4 graphic capabilities, i think PS4 can perfectly handle a high resolution texture pack. And for PC is a must, sometimes the close ups on cutscenes and all, remind me of PS2 xD

Idk why doesn't just let a third party handle the textures and stuff.

There is no need for a crazy super high res for textures. Just a more appropriate texture res should do fine. 1k or 2k textures will do really good. We already have 2k shadows and they look gorgeous and really detailed. I don't mean the game looks horrible it has some really well done and cool effects like the shadows and lighting. The textures however look really dated and hazy. Parallax looks horrible on rocks and mountains. Seems like a rushed job there. It looks nice when it's not bugging out creating that brown moving mud effect on rocks, slopes and mountains even on some corners. I can bet the reason for those horrible really super low res textures is the PS3. PS4 and PC can handle higher res without a problem. It wouldn't have bothered me if I was playing on a TV from far away but Im on PC and everything looks like crap on cutscenes and even on armors. There it's really obvious.

technical illiteracy at its best?
ps3 textures have absolutely zero to do with ps4 and/or pc textures. it's like saying the ps3 vram is affecting your pc vram.
Well, the UI limitations for the PS3 are affecting PC and PS4. Due to the lack of ram on the PS3 they couldn't add numbers to the TP party bar, and so they made it like that on every platform. That doesn't apply to textures though, I'm really curious as to what their reasoning for having these poor textures are.

>Different priorities

None of those apply here though, the textures are created in a very high resolution and then scaled down and made ugly. They don't delete the old textures willy nilly as that would be incredibly stupid for a multitude of reasons, one being they could reuse those assets for future content (a dirt texture would have many uses I'd imagine). But if you mean that's the answer they'd give us, that's likely...
