Yeah DX 11 is short lived with the new cards so move onto DX 12 far more capability's + many pc gamers have good graphics cards anyway. Course if their comp doesn't support it they still have the dx11 and dx9 options.

This is the inherent problem when companies refuse to stop supporting out dated technology. It is the also the same reason we no longer have new games being made for Super Nintendo. You must either keep up with the technology and upgrade your console system, or buy a PC that is easier to upgrade just by replacing components and not the whole thing.
I for one would welcome a hires texture pack for my PC.
Not wanting to start a console vs pc war, but that is the problem when people buy the system, but then get all upset when a company says they will no longer be making updates available for the older console. Either expect to upgrade, or expect to have the lower quality textures and video performance.
The PS3 version of the game uses lower resolution textures than the PS4 and PC versions.
PS3
PS4
Any claim that the PC and PS4 versions are being sacraficed for the sake of the PS3 version. And despite what you may think SE may or may not have said, they have never claimed the PS3 specifically was responsible for anything that the PC/PS4 version lack.

Count me in. A high res texture option would be really nice to have. I remember Yoshi-P saying 2 years ago that they always want to have the best looking MMORPG out there and that they would continously add more graphics enhancements to the game. And while they did that, they missed out on the most important and obvious ones, namely being solid Anti Aliasing support (Having only FXAA in your game these days is a sad joke) and high res textures for people that have mid to high end PC's. Many textures in the game are already quite nice but some of them are just laughable. Mountain textures for example, pretty ok looking from afar but once you come closer you go back in time to early PS3 era games.
To the people saying but muh console, well, you get what you're paying for. Obviously a box that contains 5 year old outdated hardware can never produce high fidelity graphics at an acceptable framerate. Why should PC versions be held back because of that? Doesn't make sense.

This would be a lot better if it was rows vs columes. As you have 3 natural breaks which makes it harder to compare the 3 different settins.
Hills Break River Break Plains.
VS seeing hills river and plains in all 3 settings.
Theres not excuse for the low res textures currently in use anymore. I hope, at least, that it's on SE's internal roadmap. The fact is 1.0 may have been poorly optimized, but that level of detail is rather standard for the average PC game today. FFXIV is falling behind. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that both the PS4 and PC could handle better textures with no problems. For those who say their own personal PC couldn't, well fine, you can stay at the current texture level. That's no reason to hold back the rest of us.

Wait, that's river in the middle? O.o Whoa. Nevertheless - the rocks on the left? Yeah, I still see that in random spots at max settings.http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/81...2015143024.jpg

High resolution textures really need to happen for the PC as an option. There literally is no logical argument not to make it happen.

Eh ? What river ? I was flying above one of those rocky platforms thingies (the ones you can land on):http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/81...2015143024.jpg

Chances are SE will just release their dev kit for modders and let some fan do it for them a la Skyrim.
