I didn't really see an easy 1 v 2 but I can say personally that the animations seemed to be more grounded (loved that movement animation) and a number of textures were at a higher detail that while at a distance may not be super noticeable were noticeable up close (///a lot/// of FFXIV 2.0 gear has pixels all over the place when viewed up close, very few did in 1.0). Yoshida has said something along the lines that high res textures don't mean much now days, still disagree greatly and I'm in love with my high res Skyrim mods (My mod's list theme is "Can we 4K that?", of course I have tons of lighting and enb mods too). Although I understand that it takes a lot of time to redo graphics; however, 1.0 players are saying "we know these existed, still have them right? Give them back!" lol. There are some dev posts saying DX11 won't come with higher resolution textures and then one of the more recent posts I believe said something about some high resolution textures, but I'm trying to find it so give me a sec**.
Also bump maps were awesome in 1.0 and that added a perceived 3d effect, though with dx11 we will get some tessellation (still need some better bump maps, but tessellation will make somethings literally 3d). This is probably to do with a shift in art design, shaders, and lighting but I felt a lot of 1.0 had richer colors, as I'm not an artist all I can say is that it felt soothing - 2.0 does not look bad imo, but the visual aesthetic of 1.0 was more... believable? Although SE has constantly updated the weathers (lighting in weathers) and a number of weathers in game now have a bit of saturation I missed. Some weathers were available early release but I've noticed a few others introduced later, or transitions between two that felt good - so I think that is non-issue, more visual color palette variety now; I think I just like dark/rich colors in general lol.

Watching that video made me miss Coerthas again! A snow region is neat, but.. Coerthas green or riot :P. Also miss some of those smooth zone songs, bring those back too XD (use both new and old, they're both good).
**Edit: A-ha! Here it is. They will use uncompressed textures (better than compressed, lol) on characters, quality on objects to increase (some at least), and skin texture.
