Hi all,
My PLD is currently lvl46 and think I'll be able to reach lvl50 in the weekend, with that in mid I need some guidance when it comes to gear, where should I go first in order to gear for the 8 men content?
Thanks in advance
Finish main story line with AF gears
WP- drops ilvl 55 gears
Ak- drops ilvl 60 gears
CT- drops ilvl 80 gears
Coil - drops ilvl 90 gears
all those 3 dungeons gives philo/ myth tomes which you use to exchange Darklight (ilvl 70)/ myth (ilvl 90 ) gears

Suggestions not 100% in order:
1. get an ilv55 weapon from AK/WP or your grand company (grand company is probably the best option if you have the seals because it is immediate)
2. Begin accumulating darklight from tomestones of philosophy
3. The dungeons to farm initially for ToP are AK/WP which drop i55 gear (better than all but your AF1 Body piece)
4. Once you reach a gearscore of 55, go ahead for Crystal Tower and get a piece a week of i80 (off tank's gear generally doesn't matter so much)
5. The hard mode dungeons drop i60 gear (and accessories) and more philosophy and mythology, and are just marginally harder than WP/AK
6. Depending upon who you have to assist you when you have a decent amount of darklight, begin your relic quest (from Gerlot in N. Shroud), which involves Chimera, AK, Hydra, and the hard mode primals
6.5. As a PLD, you should probably look up the strategy for these fights, since each of them require a bit of preperation
7. Once you've beaten Titan HM on your relic quest, you can get your i80 relic weapon
Mythology is a different matter, since they are currently capped, think carefully before spending them. Most will suggest not spending them on anything that isn't BiS; However, with that cap (presumably) going away within the month, you might not worry about it that much. It costs 600 ToM for the i90 Relic Zenith weapon and 300 ToM for the Relic Zenith shield. Other ToM gear is also i90 and ranges from 375-825 tomes.
Edit: If you have gil, you may want to consider just buying HQ i70 (Darksteel) gear over darklight.
That about sums it up, imo.

Do dungeons to get 55/60 gear and philo / mytho (no, Amdapor Keep NO MORE drop ilv60 items, they are in haukke/coperbell/pharos).
Buy Darklight items with philo
Start doing hard primals, get at least a ifrit weapon
Start doing Crystal Tower, Get some ilv80 items (suggest head or feet if you have mith for body leg)
Complete Darklight, run a relic reborn mission to achieve your relic weapon
Beat ultima HM for i80 neck and ring
Start Buying mith gear. Is better to have Body 90 + head 60/80 or leg 90 + feet 60/80.
Start primal ex. They drop ilv90 accessories.
Start Coil of Bahamut. It drops ilv90 gear and accessories
Consider this upgrade path (for philo mith ct)
Darklight body
Darklight Legs
Darklight belt
CT hands
Darklight accessories + 60 ring
Relic
CT head
Mith body
CT feet
CT belt / DL belt
Mith head
Mith legs
Zenith Holy Shield (relic) / Coil Shield (better)
Mith ring
Mith gauntlets
Zenith Curtana (relic)
Coil accessories / if not, extreme primals.Do not waste mith on them
Beat primals, get onion shiled (break blade is meh)
Beat Twintania (good like on it!)
Congratulation, you are a ilv90 Paladin!
As for stat ACC 475 > VIT > PARRY > STR > DETERMINATION > CRITICAL HIT > SKILL SPEED

Also, if you're a fresh paladin and don't have tomes or cash to spend, remember that you can get a tanking ring for completing your hunting log.
At 50, you can do the roulette for the story which will net you 300 philo tomes per run. This makes getting your full DL a lot quicker.

AF + Philloshopy -> CT -> Coils + Myth
Done

I would do a few runs off AK and WP to grab i55 gear. Head to CT ASAP. You just need an iLevel of 49 or so. Upgrade your weapon. Try ifrit for the primal weapon, or WP/AK have i55 weapon drops. You can buy your pre-relic and use that until you turn it in for your relic, or you can buy a HQ crafted i70 weapon. Farm Philo to get full DL. Good luck!
As far as stats go, check your BiS, you will want all the parry you can get your hands on. Also, i would go for legs/chest from CT, as that will offer relief from myth spending for a while.
I don't always pug, but when i do, it's with Pretty Ugly Guys
for fresh tanking at 50, if you want to do any Coil at all. I highly recommend DL Leg+boot combo, as it give you 40+ acc which you will want for coil. dont worry about you BiS for now, just try the get the highest lv gear you can when you have a change (with regard to ACC) BiS come after that if you min/max type. FYI to tank all current content, you do NOT have to stack parry at all. my Main PLD using almost full Coil set (except head Weapon and Shield) and my Parry only at 500ish. I never had any issue tanking T5 or Ex Primal.

I came into the thread to say just this.
While some people might disagree, going for BiS right off the bat is a mistake. Work towards getting as high a ilvl as possible first, while keeping in mind the BiS and the most important stats. This will allow you to progress in endgame faster, which in turn allows you to receive the BiS eventually. Overall, you'll beat content in the most timely fashion. Will you waste some myth? Of course! I have a bunch of myth pieces in storage which I'm never going to use, but it's worth it IMO.
I might have more or less BiS for both PLD and WAR right now, but I didn't when I first beat turn 5.
