    Bigger and better incentives for tanks

    I think there desperately needs to be far better rewards for tanks in the dungeon queue.

    As a healer, my queue times are still quite long but as a DPS they are ridiculously long unless i also select all four languages. This significantly reduces the wait time on the queues but at the cost of never being able to communicate with the Japanese players i inevitably end up with.

    What those incentives would have to be to lure tanks into the DF i have no clue, given the fact that in WoW, extremely rare and well sought after mounts were added as the incentive and still it was not nearly enough. It did help yes, but it was far from enough, since DPS inevitably still suffered horrendously long queue times.

    Something really needs to be done about the tanking situation in the DF - i dont know what, but something. I personally dont like getting smacked aside the face so i dont like melee in general, which means i wont be tanking anything anytime soon.

    Add a new stat to parsers that shows how hard you provoke, and boom...people will want to tank. As it is now, tanking yields no e-peen stroking, which is all that matters in a game like this.

    Well in the same vein as this, how about DF tanking leaderboards? Damage taken/prevented/times flash used/dungeons tanked/etc?

    The faster DF wait times were incentive enough for me, coupled with extra bonuses on roulette for being the role in need. I am surprised it didn't persuade more people. Maybe they can increase the role in need bonus to be an additional 100% more than the regular bonus for double rewards.

    These ideas sound like increasing the intimidation factor with more ways to judge people on their performance, some would argue this is why there aren't enough tanks.

    Congrats you got my first like in this forums...
    What SE should do is when you block and use ability it shows the Reduction of DMG take call it Neg DMG and have it flash so if you block a huge hit it shows -X DMG that will stroke everyones EPeen

    People like big numbers, they like to kill stuff fast, tanks like to grab as many mobs as they can and hold it and see big numbers of the amount of damage they are mitigating, it's all relative.

    I like to tank regardless so it's a non-issue for me, but my god there's times when I go into a low level dungeon and just hate it that I have no skills from the level 50 range (that should change in all honesty it's a dated mechanic)
    I also hate that to farm I need to switch class or suffer the time spent slowly killing things like watching paint dry. Give Tanks stances to toggle (Tanking Stance and a DPS stance)

    I also think that it's easy to blame the tank when things go wrong, and that sadly is a community problem.

    Yeah that may be good enough for you, but it clearly is not enough for most tanks of any level.

    The problem with this is that amount blocked doesn't directly correspond to beating the encounter.

    I've mentioned this in other threads. Tanks going from lv1-50 are boring and due to GCD on everything, feel pretty sluggish and slow. They do craptastic damage unless they have the top item lv in the game, and even then its a lot less than other jobs.

    Seriously. When the only way for a tank to get Gold in a FATE is to spam Flash (which deals no damage and doesn't directly contribute to the success of the FATE) you know there is a problem with the design.

    Not many people want to play a character whose only job is to position the enemy for other players, and his own damage plays little to no role in the encounter.
