And let's not forget all the teasing they did before launch. They enjoy getting the players worked up over a new class. I'm expecting foxclon or soken to show up with a pirate hat.
Also Yoshida has said that classes/jobs will be released in patches.

To be fair, we knew about Arcanist and Summoner since 2012. It was announced during the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary.We should never avoid speculating or disgussing what's coming up next. (I remember when "Scholar Unlocked" was found in the DATs with "Gozaru unlocked" and "Gunner unlocked" and everyone said "THAT'S FAKE, LOLOLOOLLOL". And then BAM, "We're releasing Arcanist,Summoner and Scholar!"

Only Scholar was new. That was the reason for the sceptic. Because Arcanist had already Summoner and there were no other classes known for Scholar.

They're being added in patches. A good number of people have already said that in this thread.
I can find an official quote if you'd like, but they basicly said; "We're not adding new classes or jobs in expansions but through patches instead"

First of all, we are planning a new race for an expansion pack. For the classes and jobs, we will introduce them through patches because all of the Legacy players have level 50 jobs anyway. When we introduce new classes and jobs we will probably increase the level cap at the same time.
About what I want to introduce- it’s more like what I think I have to introduce. Something related to guns because the (musketeer) guild in the game. Something related to that I think I have to introduce.
Also I do feel that scouting classes are lacking so I want to bring in Thief, Ninja and those that have to do with stealth. Also more casters like Blue Mage and Red Mage are something I would like to add.

It maybe radical for new players just joined for 2.0 era but long term wise it is still possible for new class/job to appear via patches.
Of course Yoshi-P can't satisfy everyone. There will always be people complaining class/jobs are released too soon or too late.

See? But that's contradictory, because in recent answers (more recent than that) they've said that there's no cap increase until the expansion. So, job only when cap increase, then job in patch and cap increase in expansion? I don't know about other people but I really don't care what they release anymore as long it provides something new to the game. I've yet to find a ideal class/job to play as so far but whatever they give later I'll just try them and hope to find one that suits my gameplay style.
If any new class/job is planned to be released before 1st expansion I'm only expecting 1 new class while the remaining other new class/jobs are released in the Expansion because they will have more places to put the class Guilds.
There are a lot of things SE have to do first if they want to release a new class/job being
1) location of class guilds
2) lore (Classes and Jobs are strongly tie to lore in FF14 world)
3) Jobs and what Jobs will require them or use them for cross-skills
4) General concept for class and job design
A lot of promises are switched around in this game such as Arcanist was originally going to be a 2.1 Content but it was pushed to 2.0 release.
Still one reason why Revenant Toll is expanding in size could be to become a new city or small town which does leave room for new buildings like Class Guilds.
