Musketeer in Through the Maelstrom Patch or Huge Tease?

OK so based on one of the new images for the upcoming 2.2 Through the Maelstrom patch (see Gamer Escape news link below)... I think we might be finally getting Musketeer!

If not, then this is just a huge tease that SE is pulling on all of us. Why else would this image of Merlwyb be featured?

Because it takes place in her island, maybe.

I think it's too early to introduce a new class. We're only just over half a year into the original game. I think if there was a new class to be introduced in 2.2 we would know about it by now.

Uh, so she's firing her guns, that doesn't prove anything - it just means she's featured in the new storyline (there were a few quests in 1.0 where she did exactly the same thing). As much as I'd love to see MSK finally added, seeing one image with Merlwyb using her weapons doesn't equate to 'MSK is coming in next expansion').

EDIT: more interesting in that sneak peak is the new storyline featuring that emissary from the far eastern continent of Othard - did anyone notice that the nation the emissary comes from is named after Cyan's fallen kingdom from FFVI?

Merlwyb would be featured because she is the leader of the free company in Limsa and Leviathan is worshiped by the beastman tribe in that region. Nothing more. It is not a "huge tease" as you put it. It is you reading into something and projecting what you want from it.

Will we get Musketeer in this patch? Who knows (though I highly doubt it). But I know this, one image of a main character (from the storyline) holding a musket is far from a reason to think SE is pulling a huge tease on "all" (and I use that term loosely) of us.

I think the bigger clue to a new job is the character from Doma. Doma is Cyan's country in FF6, and he was a samurai.

There's only 1 DEX class at the moment. Would make sense to throw in a 2nd one. Although, as much as I would love for MSK to make it into 2.2, I highly doubt it will happen.

Seriously guys. They're not going to add a new class every other patch. Yoshi's said that Musketeer will likely be one of the first classes added after the launch of 2.0, but that probably just means in the first expansion pack. There will probably be another class or two as well, and hopefully a handful of jobs, but now would be exceptionally early. Also, Merlwyb always has her gun and we already know why she'd specifically be featured in this patch. This is way beyond reaching.
