If that is the case, then the city would have fallen apart centuries ago. The fact that it stands is testament to its competent architects and builders.

Naval construction, much like aeronautical, is made for precision. And hell, it must be sturdy, it needs to survive not just war, those boats will be on the sea for long, long spans of time. Their users might be an unruly bunch, but you can bet the craftsmen aren't

There are even bigger problems apparently. I fell through the plaza itself a couple of nights ago, right down to the sea surface. Had to run across the tops of the waves to the ferry dock at Fisherman's Bottom to get back on solid ground
