I dont understand o_o.. people keep complaining about this game is not hardcore but they don't even suggest what they want for the game. Yada yada yada is all i read.

What exactly a hardcore game for you? Do you want to put less camp in a zone so people are forced to travel a lot even after using a teleport? Do you want as hardcore as spending 5 hours just to find or form a party? A downgrade of the game just to make it hardcore? Im confused, when they implement turn coils i thought that was hardcore and all i hear are people complaining against other players who sucks. too many complaints guys! Just quit! lol

it was because elemental weakness makes certain classes worthless or op, think of bone dragon if summoners couldn't dot them because they are all about poisons and such, great now you're either kicked or forced to leave because you got summoners. it makes content unfair to other classes.
Or you know they could have just gave every class elemental based weapons skills, weapons, gear and buffs and then it would be balanced and there would be this huge variety that we are talking about.

That would also involve completely remaking Black Mage since it's entire kit is about waxing and waning of Fire and Ice. You also didn't solve anything and just made the current system but with a different skin. If everyone can do it, then what is the point? It also gimps classes if they don't have the certain gear/skill and makes everything balanced around the elemental instead of skill.

    Dem slippery slope!

It seems you never played Final fantasy.... those games would not exist if people and developers thought like you do.

Lets compare FFXI, since its a FF MMO. in the 8 yrs i played, i never seen full blm dps for any mobs, unless its one of those manaburn pt blm makes themselves, similar to how summoners make astral burn pt or melee makes TP burn pt.

There were monsters in ffxi where the monsters only take increased magic damage when melee perform skillchain(TP chain) to lower its elemental affinity. cause the need for mixed classes. If i recall, in a 6 man party set up, 1 tank, 1 healer, 4 dps(1 support).. i almost never seen 2 black mages.

The monsters dont always have elemental weakness, even if they do, their weakness does not differentiate much. Dont forget, some monsters maybe have weaker elemental affinity, but they also might have 2nd status such as magic damage reduction, or reflect.. there are many factors to look at other than "omg ifrit weak to water, throw blm at it!"

It seems you didn't watch the live letters or read the letters from producer. Yoshi-P said that is the reason: he did not want certain jobs to be excluded because of elemental weakness.

That is one thing i loved about games... where you get a good weapon and you use it to fight stuff and other content.

This is how FFXIV weapon system goes.

    Day 1, get GC weapon,
Day 2, use GC weapon to get AK weapons,
Day 3, Use AK weapon to get Ifrit,
Day 4 Use Ifrit Weapon to get Garuda weapon,
Day 5 Use Garuda Weapon to get Titan,
Day 6 work toward you relic,
Day 7 Either get EX Primal Weapon or upgrade your relic, use that to get T5.
Next use T5 to get T9 Weapon.

Those that's a bit exaggerated, that how this game is.

I WANNA USE THE WEAPON FOR OTHER CONTENT DAMN IT!
There is another way to play the game, the non-raiding one.

I don't do raids (any more) in any game. Life is too short for that. Hardcore players are simply people with more free time than is good for them. In WoW, I do Looking For Raid because it isn't real raiding. Nor do I do the extremely time consuming, and often frustrating, quests for legendary gear or relic weapons or whatever, which anyway will become obsolete next expansion.

Basically, I'm playing this game like I play WoW. In FF14, I don't do Hard/Extreme Primals or Coils, the equivalent of raiding here. I ran King Mog till I got the 75 level weapon and am using it for everything I do, while building all my armour to 90.

I do everything else in the game (s) I have fun with. So I am out of the treadmill you mentioned. Simple enough.

The moment you step into collecting ilv90 items, you are in the treadmill. Unless you are to stick with your mog weapon and ilv90 in the future when the game updates to ilv150.

collecting myth tomes for ilevel90 gear just happen if you play the game (as example during peiste treasure hunting or dungeon roulette). It only take a longer time if you don't raid specific for it.

Not really. Usually I manage to keep my gear level decent (for my purposes) without too much of a grind. Consider that I like doing 4-5 man dungeons, sometimes do them just for fun.

I'm was just trolling people complaining about this game and saying ESO, Wildstar and Everquest Next will offer something never before seen in an MMORPG. Seriously this game needs to give players the ability to customize there characters abilities by gaining ability points for completing end game dungeons and raids. Also they need to add sand box elements to the game where your characters fully customizable and we can use crystals to augmenting our abilities and add elemental resistance. Ie a Black Mage augmenting there Flare into a Mega Flare or just gaining there ultimate skill meteor or Summoner augmenting they Egi Summon into a Primal or a Dragoon turning Dragon Fire Dive into Hell Fire Dive by pressing another skill.
