are macros important or a waste of time

Macro is a tool that makes life easier. It is not necessary, but it is good to have.

For example, if I want to put Virus on the boss while healing the tank. Normally I would need to re-target the boss to cast then back to the tank. With macros, I don't need to do that.

The only macros I like to use are targeting ones. Mostly ones to hit my focus target or target of target without having to manually change targets. In the case of focus target, it also helps for when my mouse decides it really wants to click to a different target, too. But, yeah, my SCH has offensive spells bound to <tt> macros, my SMN has Eye for an Eye bound to <tt> macros, and my BRD has Blunt Arrow bound to <f> macro. These are all things I could do without the macros, but the macros make them significantly more convenient and reduce the chance for mistakes.

That said, I'll likely also make a macro to announce when I rez people, just because. . .

I use mouseover macros for casting regen sometimes. Comes in handy so you can keep the tank targeted, but just mouseover other party members' names and hit the regen macro. No text to party.

Care with stacking all offensive cooldowns onto 1 key at titan if you don't have huge hp. Blood for blood during titan ex tumult, yeeeeeah.....

I have absolutely every single one of my keys bound and macro'd to do more than it's intended use. I could not live without macros.

As an SCH that plays on a PS3, macros have saved my life. I can't imagine healing without them now. Also the announcing of who I'm ressing/ applying virus and E4E on has prevented lots of wasted MP and CDs. So no macros aren't a waste of time.

Macros are useful depending on how far you want to go as a group as communication is paramount in groups or raids.

Healers especially scholar since I main heal as one requires me to bind my fairy heals on to my other heals and also works really well with cleansing debuffs. Less pet management and also I bind rouse with + healing and succor with aoe hot fairy heal.

Makes for an easier time. Just have to adjust to it.
