Probs, except they will give them a new name and different colored gear and armor. Don't say FFXIV ARR is getting the 'same thing' from XI.
1. You will be told that THIS IS NOT XI. Go play that if you want that.
2. You will be told, these classes/jobs are NOT the same so don't say it - they, after all have different colored armor/gear and different names.
...and from the Gridania forest mysts proceed the souls of warriors and heroes; among which I am honored to serve as part of the One.
The way that Dancer was implemented in FFXI would have been much more appropriate to this game than it was to that. Dancer was sort of a jack-of-all-trades, master of none in that it had some healing ability but not as strong as a dedicated healer, some dd ability but not as strong as a dedicated dd, some support but not as strong as a dedicated support, and some tanking ability but not as strong as a dedicated tank. This made it great for solo play, but it was very, very rare that it ever found a role in group play.
As a healer, Dancer did have the unique advantage as being the only job that didn't have to fumble around with Echo Drops whenever a mob dropped an aoe Silence. Unfortunately, this was more than offset by the fact that mobs that used Amnesia (essentially, Silence for physical abilities) or even just TP reset (all too common) pretty much crippled them.
FFXIV is much more solo friendly than FFXI was, so it wouldn't surprise me if they could port over the job with much the same play style, though adapted to the ability format for this game.
The only issue I see with Dancer in XIV even though I want it is instead of dancing animations it'll probably be short burst of skill activated animations to keep in line with the generic feel of this game. :\ Otherwise I'd really..really want Dancer, it was one of my mains in XI - I want a proper SCH as well.
Iirc, someone did dat mining and found an unlock plate for Dancer back when the 2.0 benchmark was released. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit:
That definitely doesn't mean it's confirmed but...we have hope. ^_^
Edit pt. 2: I guess I'm not on topic...uh, I would play dancer. I played one in XI just up to sub level. I really enjoyed having it subbed on thf and sam. Healing Waltz/Haste Samba/ and uh...that esuna dance. Too good.
You, madam, have just crushed my soul. Why would there be a necro though...?

That's fake..I checked and there's no signs of that nor Necromancer.
If Dancer played like it did in FFXI - I'd definitely play that class, and I don't generally like to tank, but I really enjoyed it in FFXI. It was awesome for solo and group content! In fact I'm really hoping that they do add the dancer tank eventually!
Observation: Its kind of a superfluous question to ask if people would dare to play a class because of the classes attire, or to expect a class to be gender locked because of it. Seriously, at least half if not more of the Miquote females are men in real life, and there still are plenty of male characters even that wear the bards AF/Myth outfits and main bard.. so I think its a silly question to ask, because its not like its ever a big deal. Its a fantasy game.. and hopefully silly personal insecurities can be left in the real world. Just have fun and don't worry about it.

I would SO love to play Dancer. Bonus points it if has attractive armor like FFXI's gorgeous attire. Aside from being wonderfully unique, I think it could also benefit by adding a dagger-wielding base class to the game which could then branch into Thief as well. It never hurts to have a few more toys to play with, and I think Dancer could be just the thing.
Dancer? Hell yes.
