I personally think crit is a bit overrated for the SCH for the very reason KiraVaela provided, ie. due to underwhelming crit rates as it stands, never mind the fact the spell on which the whole meta is built around (mainly) doesn't get spammed so much to begin with, with some precision-casting situationally. Now, don't get me wrong: is crit bad? No, it is not, it has some very good synergy for the SCH, but I don't think it is the be-all-end-all no-brainer people say it is - at least for my own playstyle. Even the enhanced pet action doesn't wholly impress me because it is just more RNG built on top the inconsistent crit rates. Granted, Embrace is something you do spam 100% of the time manually, anyway, meaning you'll get that proc sooner or later always, but the slightly higher heals for both Embrace and Physicks/Adlos, with higher but slightly less frequent crits more than makes up for it in my opinion when it comes to DET/hybrid-builds.
My own "DET-build" is still incomplete due to very heavy RNG-inconsistencies (me being short of 2 Allagan accessories + the Inferno bangle of healing [38 Ifrit EX kills so far and not seen it drop once, even got the nightmare mount from Ifrit - I swear we get the casting one like 60% of our kills]), but I still prefer to use the Allagan tunic of healing and the allagan choker of healing over my Argute gown and Hero's necklace of healing, for +28 DET and -38 Crit. Even that amount of DET is enough to notice the slight increases in the median heals, it also affecting my off-DPS numbers a bit (which I am very trigger-happy with, all content included). Of course we are not talking about extreme differences in numbers here, but some testing and fiddling around has showed me that the -38 crit rarely has any impact on how often I do crit, with the higher median heals and slightly higher peaks more than making up for it (never mind the higher median crit). I only pretty much switch to my crit-build (have them both in my hotbars) when I am trying to cast a crit-adlo on a T5 solotank before the initial pull and that is literally it, me switching back to the normal build after I have landed a crit - even then it sometimes takes ages for a crit to pop up >.>..
So when all is said and done, it is interesting to see the differences with what different people spec for fights and I do think crit is very good for adlo/pet actions, never mention the ocassional crit-heals in general, as the Scholar doesn't really get hurt from critting due to no threat issues. But even so, I am more sold on capitalizing on DET when applicable, having crit there as the go-to stat otherwise when applicable. I am still about 30 DET short of my current pre-2.2 ideal build and will likely never complete it before the patch (gonna farm 'til the healing bangle drops though) and would lose about the same amount in crit if I did actually complete it - so I don't know if I have hit some sweet spot here with 439 Crit and 274 DET (no foods), but that is unlikely. ;P
